Last time I played a city building game it was Sim City 2000. I got hooked for a few months but got bored of its simplicity.

Now, Cities XL 2011 is on an entirely different level... Safe to say I'm hooked.

The detail in it is astounding. There are flaws, but it's great fun building a realistic city.

Here is an example of an incredible one (not mine):
http://forum.citiesxl.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=1258

It has a steep learning curve, and you'll fuck up several cities before you get one right, but once you do and it starts growing well it's incredibly satisfying.

My current city is at 444,000 inhabitants and is growing a lot. Looking to get it to 1 million in a few days. I'll get some pics.

If you like this sort of game, I advise you get it... it's great fun. Reviews say little about it because of some of the flaws (traffic problems, laggy interface) but I disagree. It's a great time killer and you end up getting hooked on the smallest of things - like making sure your entire city is build on a grid based system. I love it because it makes you need to think about every aspect of the city from minute one. You can't just start building random roads and house and hope it all comes together, if you don't plan ahead everything will fail later on.

I stopped playing sim-city because of the complex parts... lol...

I don't want to do tax/economy/etc. work, I want to build it and that is about it

edit: why did I even quote the OP? lol

Urgh, after trying a couple of cities I uninstalled...

There are two ways to play this...

A: Build up normally eventually reaching a point where the game goes from "hey nice work" to "hey this is shit, traffic, lack of x lack of y and oh btw, you have no room to fix these issues, gg...

B: Cheat, unlock buildings and start with a mega-highway in the middle, game goes "oh hi this is shit, -500.000 money per tick

Floppy stop moaning about games just because you are shit at them, or because you haven't got the patience/intelligence to work through things that make games challenging...

Played it for a while - It's too simple imo - SimCity 4 was alot more complicated.
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously.

I found SC4 to not be so complicated, it just took alot of patience. I never tried CitiesXL, only heard from friends that its a complex bitch, but very fun if you don´t forget about it.
That was the 2010 version though (the one that flopped so bad because of the MP), what´s the difference in this 2011er?

2011 doesn't have MP anymore and they've concentrated on making the SP a much more detailed and playable game. Which they have. It's pretty good, and a lot more complex than shitty Sim City 4.

I found the crappy grammar in CXL2011 pretty weak too.
