You should play BFBC2, because BF3 will be based on an updated Frostbite engine and they will most likely take over the new gameplay mechanics too.

If they make the player movement and gameplay like BF2 (including prone, also with unlimited sprint), but with the hitreg and game engine of BC2 (which is a given) and make it a porper PC game then it could just be a little bit awesome. Here's hoping.

Prone is a useful part of gameplay. If you can't counteract prone players I suggest you sell any FPS you own. If you're sniping, proners are sitting headshots.

What makes the game interesting is v-a-r-i-e-t-y. Otherwise, give everyone the same gun and just an open map so ppl can't cry about it. Woo hoo.

Yeah it's not as much the normal use of it that ruins it for me... it's when someone finds the tiniest 1px hole somewhere and uses it as his own personal bunker...

That's when you flank them and knife em. Rarely does one look around when one is sniping from such a position.
And if you can't flank them, just go another way. If they're got nothing to shoot at, they'll move.

I hope BF3 has prone. It was so annoying in BC2 to try and take cover behind something, only to have your head stick out the top to get shot off.

But seriously, 700 hours in BF2 plus whatever else in VN and '42 only to get ambushed with oversimplified controls...the only way to mentally work around it is to assume that BC is not a BF game.

Yeah. There was certainly a learning curve for the controls of BF2. That's what makes me come back to it.
Once you figure out BC2 it loses the novelty a lot quicker.
