I can't digitally download via Steam. It says my product isn't registered but when I go to register it says it's invalid. WTF, that's the key I used when I installed the game from DVD.

I personally can't play the game because I was gifted it on steam and I own a retail copy of the game. Which means getting in touch with steam support to see if they will give me a refund or credit. Why they can't just give you the key without the steam integration I don't know.
All your buddy can do is withdraw the gift, I believe, and send it to someone who already has Steam BC2. Otherwise, just wait until there's another sale on BC2 and shelve your retail copy.

Music in the vehicles is awesome, favorite part of the game. Along with pretending to be VC and hiding in the jungle to ambush GI.
