The only real use that gold has at the moment, is for crafting golden apples, which heal all 10hp, but only use up one inventory slot.
That is, if you find a rare apple in a dungeon chest and want to waste 72(!) gold ingots for that.

Fried pork steaks are so easy to get and heal 5 points, and you normally can carry a few of them easily.

That's because bread can't be stacked...

At least not in the latest version (1.1.2 Alpha)

seems i punched into the bottom of a massive lava pool

yeah always carry water (1 bucket is enough), and also, watch for lava pits near gravel. Damn that shit is annoying

Also never let loose a gravel fall, kills you easily (That's why you NEVER mine straight up, unless you're stuck in a deep hole and are pillarclimbing).

Nah it's pretty easy to avoid drowning in gravel tbh... just jump and you will get out the top where the falling gravel created a hole...

I've mostly stopped playing this. I've made a small railroad and a small glass underwater tunnel and a few trees and a house and a few caves and I feel I've gotten pretty much all I can out of it without putting stupidly large amounts of time into it.

Yep, afaik there's only two, and they're damn rare.
