I cancelled my pre-order from game.co.uk because they didn't have beta key access.UK|Hooligan wrote:
Why would you want to buy it through steam for £10 more and with no hard copy i just dont see the point!!
I now pre-purchased it via Steam for €50 instead of €32.
My reason was, that the delivery from the UK to Austria may take longer and I would receive it past the release date.
Also, packages can get lost in the post.
I don't want to buy retail in Austria at all, because I fear getting stupid censored German versions.
As far as I know it's the same version for everyone. 18+ though but uncut.globefish23 wrote:

I asked about that in the EA UK forums, and got told there is supposed to be a cut version.Special_Op wrote:

I didn't know there's a cut version? It doesn't seem particularly gory at all, or anything like that. Just standard blood/violence. Not even on the level that World at War was.
I've never heard anything about this. Why Germany? Seems abit random, they don't usually do stuff like that unless it has Nazi shit in it. Australia, I can understand, that one's obvious.

As far as I read theres going to be a worldwide version. But I'm not 100 % sure.

Is there going to be a story to single player or it going to be like BF2?

Anyone know if you can still get those unlocks if you don't pre-purchase? Like in game, BF2 or CoD4 style? I'm debating the pre-purchase. I bought OPF2, MW2, FC2, and CoD WAW before waiting for the reviews. I don't want to waste my money again.
Pre-ordered for PC. Amazon are selling it £15 cheaper than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions!!!
If you pre-order you get beta access, however to stop people from getting into the beta and canceling their preorder, if you enter the beta code it locks you in.Commie Killer wrote:

However there will be other ways into the beta, as well as a demo.
And yes, you can get all the unlocks no matter what, it's just you start out with them if you preorder.
Same. Don't want another 2142.Commie Killer wrote:

How can they "lock" you in to make me buy the game from the retailer i pre order the game from to get in the beta?Doctor Strangelove wrote:

With play.com you can send anything back unopened and get a refund, which is what i usually do as everything i pre-order from them is late, like instead of a friday it turns up on a monday!

You can get the beta there.
Though be advised it is in German, however the beta will not be region locked so the key you get from it is good no matter where you live.

The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
i translated the last message, and it looks like a random drawing. The word "winner" made me

No English form exists yet for some reason, and all it gives you is a key, which you can use to play the beta in any of the languages it is available in.

Notice the site mentions the beta page only being open for certain hours of the day, to keep it away from minors. I saw mention previously from Germans that they were concerned that BFBC2 would have to be edited down for the German market, but were relieved to see they would get the "unedited" version. This is what those articles are concerned about. Wasn't it the German market that required green blood in some previous games?
Ordered mine last night
Germany always cuts the games released there. It´s pretty retarded, too, because they usually get an above-18 clearance and still get stuff cut from it. Some games are even forbidden to be sold openly (like Doom 3), others get things replaced (green blood like Gully mentioned) or robot enemies, like they did with Soldier of Fortune 2.Mekstizzle wrote:

Problem is, politics has no clue about videogames. They just claim videogames (Killerspiele called in german [Killergames translated]) are the reason for people running amok. It´s a witch hunt.
Anyways, BFBC got above 18 clearance, which implies that it might be uncut, but it still can be cut at some parts. In the EA UK forum I got told that there is a german version, that is different

Pre-Order from Play.com and receive a code to access the PC BETA before anyone else! The BETA is due to start on the 28th January 2010 (subject to change). Codes and instructions on how to access the BETA early will be emailed two days prior (currently 26th January) to the start of the BETA. Please note, pre-orders already taken will automatically receive a code.

Thank you for your order.
