And as far as iwnet is concerned, I dislike it because the sole reason it was implemented was to force PC owners to have to buy DLC too.

As far as I'm aware IW have never even adequately explained why they switched to matchmaking. They had a perfectly fine server browser that they could easily reuse, yet they opted to replace it with a worse system. I'm not saying IWnet is shit, I'm saying that IW went to the effort of replacing a superior system with an inferior one. And it just so happens to be that by forcing this inferior system on PC users along with a few other tweaks, they can easily sell DLC to PC gamers too as the possibility of running your own custom content isn't there, just like on consoles. Not to mention that Activision loves DLC passionately.

I did say "to force PC owners to have to buy DLC", but I didn't mean it literally. I meant that if MW2 on PC goes the same way as some console games, and most players actually do own the DLC, then many players would start to feel excluded and thus buy it to not be locked out of some matches.

erm... and that's different from expansion packs how? we've all been buying expansion packs for games for 10+ yrs to "not feel excluded and be locked out of some matches". what the fuck does that have to do with being matchmaked to a game-server instead of choosing it yourself from a server browser? did you not buy bf2:special forces because you wanted the new maps, vehicles and gun-unlocks? did you not buy company of heroes: opposing forces because you wanted the two new armies? what the hell does that have to do with IWNet replacing dedicated servers?!?

DLC is different from expansion packs. BF2:SF got a decent playerbase, yet BF2's real equivalent of DLC, the booster packs, did not. They didn't sell well and they died off quickly. CoD4 PC even got the DLC for free.

First of all, I haven't tried MW2 on the PC, so this is from experience on the Xbox:

I prefer matchmaking to Dedicated servers. It's just so much quicker and easier. You just start the game, it finds players in the same skill range within the same-ish area, you have 15-20 minutes of good fun, and then you refresh for a quick new match, with a refreshing new set of players.

With dedicated servers, it takes me quite some time to find a server that has quite a lot of players without being full, and I'm oh-so-sick of annoying server side mods, stupid server messages, annoying admins and server lag, as well as server "regulars" thinking they're all leet and own the server themselves. Also, jumping in in the middle of a round is never really fun.

I dunno, I just vastly prefer matchmaking, dedicated servers stress me out.

I always found you just get raped by clans on CoD4, there was a few good servers. Too few and far between, it is nice just to click whichever game mode you like and jump straight into a game. It's not all bad obviously there is the lag problem I would say about 1 in 25 games is unplayable from the matchmaking. Another slightly annoying thing is problems connecting to a host, you'll be just about to start a full ground war game then bamn! Could not connect to host!

He's pointing out the irony of everyone jumping on me and him for not thinking the game is perfect.

It does seem that some people are moaning for the sake of moaning, there are numerous duplicate replies and constant rhetoric from both sides. It's just getting a bit tired, all the arguments over how the game is isn't going to change a thing. It is how it is, you opt in or you opt out and no one really gives a flying fuck whatever you do.
