TGS 09: Bad Company 2 Hands-on - IGN
IGN had some hands-on time with Bad Company 2 at TGS. Check out the write up below.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The level itself was a blast. With the new full-building destruction tanks ruled the field, which in turn caused more counter-tank support classes to easily dispatch the heavy armor. With more support on the field come more snipers, more snipers means more SMG classes and building-leveling tanks, and already you cans see the tug-of-war that occurs. With a map such as this one, the three capture stations acted as three main choke points for the map as well, so action was fierce while spawns were still nice and out of the way. Toss in some choppers and quick-moving ATVs and the action heated up nicely.

As someone who loves on-foot combat as opposed to too much vehicle play, the ATVs were hands-down the highlight of the hands-on time for me. Allowing for a quick start while having virtually no offence, I hopped on using my assault class, would drive directly into hot zones, jump out, and fire away at enemies drawn to the ATV's coasting stop. Those that played Modern Combat on 360 know the awesomeness that comes with triggered explosives and vehicles, and while we didn't have any unlocked for this current game I'm already salivating at the possibilities. TGS 09: Bad Company 2 Hands-on - G4TV
G4TV posted their impressions of Bad Company 2 at TGS, talking more about the new map revealed.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Aside from multiplayer, it's the small things that make Bad Company shine. I loved the tech behind the first game (even if I never finished it), and the idea that barriers couldn't protect enemies from the reach of your weapons; after all, the destruction tech allowed you to (literally) break the walls dividing you from them. And I like DICE's subtle elements here, such as the impact that enemy bullets have on your windshield. As I waited to play, I watched someone else attempt to run over a few enemy soldiers in an ATV, one player pumped several rounds into the window of the vehicle and killed him. It was a strangely awe-inspiring moment, yet I was awfully glad I wasn't the one displaying tech prowess via multiplayer victimhood.

After a few more minutes, I tried out BC2's new multiplayer desert map for a round of Capture the Flag (or whatever fancy name DICE coined that no one told me when I picked up the controller). I started off as assault class, which provided me with some nasty weapons designed to make a big impact. Of course, the elements that give BC its unique edge -- vehicles, and oodles of them -- are in tow. Read the rest...

This game appeals to me so much more than MW2. Although the release dates are way off. Probably done on purpose, but also probably cos this game needs more development time.

The sound in this game is just incredible. And not just talking about the soldiers dropping the f bombs either. But that adds that sort of realism to it

I think they did that in CoD: WaW too. Can't remember. Swearing at each other like crazy

BFBC had amazing sound effects. Still one of the best FPS shooters available imo.

BFCast Episode 1 Released
A new Battlefield Podcast called BFCast released their first episode today, which features an interview with DICE Producer, Gordon Van Dyke speaking on a range of topics.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

In this episode of BFCast, Brandon and Aaron interview Gordon E. Van Dyke, a DICE Producer working on Battlefield Bad Company 2. The questions focus primarily on Gordon’s past, such as how he got into the industry and how he got into DICE specifically, and also on his personal interests, such as his favorite Battlefield game and his favorite Battlefield moment. And of course some info related to the new Battlefield games. The interview was originally intended to last only twenty or thirty minutes, but ends up taking an hour, so be prepared for a long episode. One more thing is, we did have some technical difficulties with one of the recordings, so my voice is a bit weird in the intro and conclusion. So have a listen and give some good feedback! We would also like to thank DJ-Recoil from newgrounds for the Battlefield US Theme Remix.

Agreed, especially if IW is stupid enough to not add dedicated server support.

Although I'm hoping to have a net connection for my PS3 by then, I hope the SP is as good and funny as BC, also for replayability as well. BFBC has an amazing ability to never get boring.

I wasn't even considering this game before now... Tought I was gonna be busy with MW2 when this came out and 1 fps at a time is enough. But seems like BFBC2 will be my next fps

It might make it in, depending on how well it does for playing.

Well they didn't take the cake. But instead they get 2 cakes. It seems that the Battlefield Bad Company 2 community was so happy that BFBC2 will have dedicated servers, unlike the MW2 mess. They sent DICE 2 cakes.

Coolest thing just happened:

I get a call from the reception saying “there’s two guys here who wants to give you cake”. Turns out they are from the PC community and were so happy about our dedicated server tweet this week they wanted to give something back to us, the developers. Awesome, thanks a lot guys!
Now is that Community love, or what. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is due out on 3/2/2010.

And apparently the LE version of BFBC2 is the same price as the standard edition . Its there for those who pre-order the game. I guess it  just gives the player a head start as a kind of a thank you.

I love it when Dice proves their retardation.

This answer seems like rehash from BC 1, is that so, or is this their answer for BC2?

If so how in the FLYING * can you camp for long period of time when their is a * KILLCAM?

also you can camp crouching, standing, in a tank for fucksake. Proning is not a camp only position anyone can do it in anyway. So that part makes no sense. (Yes, average console user, that part did make no sense).

and the PC is getting better features because they were ignored? WTF. Also Modern Combat was a competitive BF game and for the Hardcore genra. BC wasn't. In fact Dice said themselves they underestimated the hardcore style of the consoles. Clearly they have backtracked.

Your just writing your own answer aren't you? This wasn't from Dice's own mouth was it?

Sigh......
I just facepalmed so hard. Maybe console users should get rewarded prone when they learn to type coherent sentences.

I'm still undecided as whether to go for the PS3 version, or wait out for the PC requirements and see what I may need to upgrade. Although if its more than one thing I might just get it for the Playstation.
