Funny how the idler program went down...the server has a max of 10,000 idlers and it was supposedly surpassed the other day lolz

I was idling for a day or two but it's gotten to the point where I get a Flare gun, huntsmen, sand man, force of nature, cloak and dagger, etc every time. I literally have gotten over 15 huntsmen and 5-6 flare guns with nothing else. I have maybe 35 hours of actually playing so I'm guessing that's why I am only getting these basic things.

It doesn't bother me much, I just thought I'd try idling to see what I could get but it seems as though it's only going to give me repeats until I actually play enough hours :S

I'm pretty sure the random item levels were just another way to add value to some items for when trading comes in.

Sure the level doesn't change the weapon in any way but a level 100 or level 0 item is certainly more desirable.

I found that the chances of getting a hat didnt add up with how long it was supposed to take to get one so I tried it myself:

1/4 chance of getting an item every 25 minutes
if you get an item there's a 1/2000 chance it'll be a hat
so the chance of getting a hat every 25 minutes is 0.25x1/2000 = 0.000125

So let's say you use the idle program and have tf2 idling 24/7 for a week
the chance of NOT getting a hat in that week is (1-0.000125)^(24x7x2.4) = 0.951 = 95.1%
So basically if you idle for an entire week non-stop there's a 4.9% chance you'll get a hat

EDIT: I think Yoda added an extra 0 to 200, which is why the chances seemed so wrong.
In that case the chance of getting a hat every full week of playing would be 40%

I think you're right. I used to read that the chance was 0.45%, but recently i've seen the 2000 figure thrown around. So yeah. I think you're right.

@Uzique. Leaving a basic command prompt running whenever you're not playing to get more in-game items = sad fucks? If you say so. Excessive and unnecessary, perhaps, but remember. It's a command prompt that requires 0 effort and you can leave running for as long as you like because it uses almost no resources. At first I thought it was sad but came around to the thinking: Why not?

Also, a new glitch seems to have come around: Server class limits dont work anymore.

Yesterday I was playing with fermtax and trying to get the clearcutter achievement. Turns out the entire round I was a spy carrying an Axe, Shotgun and flamethrower. I was also attacked by a scout who could backstab. He was still just as fast, and had a freaking knife

Been around for a while.

Happens when you get teamswitched when alive and the class you were using is full. The server changes your class, but you get to keep your weapons.

It's the same every update. It just means the server isn't updated.

Speaking of that update.

The Revolver now has the same accuracy model that the Ambassador has. As if it needed a buff. (note i am happy with the change). The Ambassador really is worthless now.

First shot on the Ambo should mini-crit even if not to the head.

That way on the first shot the Ambo and regular revolver are identical.

If they make it anywhere near as rare as the hats they can fuck off...

If they make the Valve items as overpowered as those in the screenshots of another thread they can fuck off x2

EDIT: I hope they know what they are doing, it is so easy to ruin the game with this kind of fundamental gameplay alteration...

EDIT2: If valve doesnt create a specific way of getting each item along with the random path, they can fuck off x3

I've got about 100 total lololol

tbh if they implemented a trading system I'd give away my Demoman Fro since I rarely play it and I know a few hardcore Demo guys that want one.

Or maybe (not very likely tho) this Finol, who seems to be the only spotted valve employee so far using these items, is one of the people who worked on the drop system and added a little fun of his own?

Because honestly, unless they were doing meth I can't see Valve risking the impact this sort of "hax" would have on their community... worst case scenario for them would be someone cracking/finding a bug and exploiting it, adding these items to everyone who wants it's account...

I just can't see this beeing a deliberate design choice...
if it is, I sure hope there will be some Vanilla servers coming up :S
