look at what happened with Donahue (or however its spelled)

I know its really hard being a ref, but I think they should just let them play. Its stupid how people are getting to the line, look at Kobe and Paul Pierce with the fake, lean into the defender, take the shot and get the call. they are purposely trying to draw a foul and its stupid that they have let that become a part of the game. If the refs stopped calling it, the players would stop doing it. Its fucking pathetic during some games when one player takes more free throws than the other team COMBINED. They say the playoffs become more physical. You know what? let the physical part be part of the regular season so the refs dont have to adjust during the playoffs. Im sick of star players being benched for a majority of the first half when they pick up 2 quick fouls. I realize its part of the game and always has been, but that is one factor of the game I hate. Its so stupid to see a shitty offensive foul call, and the next trip down the court they call some bull shit chippy foul on the defender as if to neutralize the first bad call. The refs arent going away anytime soon. I just accept it as part of the game

Going back through the years, fouls are called a lot more often during the playoffs than during the regular season. so this year is average

really the number of fouls called hasnt really varied all that much, maybe it just seems like it because you get 12 different camera angles now and they show 15 replays per foul

I LOVE the penalty box idea. Like after your 6th foul you have to take a 10 minute hiatus or something like that. Or people who have fouled out can come back for OT.  Bitch about a call? instead of getting T'd and costing your team possession and a freethrow, you go to the box for 5 minutes. Hah remember when the NBA decided to crackdown on players bitching about non-calls and fouls.... that worked well... not really, it just stopped non-allstars from getting 18 freethrows a game

It's pretty sad that the only thing we know going into watching a game is that the refs are going to be terrible. It's also upsetting that we're not gonna get the Lebron vs Kobe finals, those MVPuppet commercials have been great!

Yeah he did and yes they do.  During the regular season I was convinced Jordan Farmar would be the point guard of the future but his play and demeanor in the playoffs (both this year and last) is totally different from the regular season.  He's one of those confidence players who have gigantic mental deficiencies when the games mean something.

Actually the game last night was a welcome change.  There were a few iffy calls both ways but for the most part the refs swallowed the whistle.  I haven't started watching tonight's game as I'm still at work but we'll see how that goes.  Should be a good one!

So the shining star of my Chicago Bulls apparently can't take the SAT himself. The best part is, I don't give a damn, he shouldn't have been forced to go to college for a year in the first place.

Rubio is way too good for this. He is the best point guard in Europe right now and is coming to the NBA. If anyone watched the Olympics Final Spain - USA, they would have seen how tremendous the kid is. Fucking ran rings around Kidd and CP until he got injured. His shooting from outside the D needs to improve, but other than that....

But not sure how the competition was in Europe, and who he played against, here its tough and rough in NBA, since u have huge talent in NBA and different types of players who are huge unlike in Europe where they are built to play and not so much focus on the personal physique. Watched one of his videos but yeah will see how things turn out. If he goes to the knicks or some decent team not sure how much playing time he'll get since the experienced players will get to play first and he might only get some minutes which sucks. If he however goes on a bad team his chances of becoming a superstar increases that is if he gets accustomed to the environment and works hard.

The competition is getting way better in Europe.  It's improving at such a high rate and the clubs over there are doing better and better to the point where more NBA players are leaving here for there.  The talent pool over there is growing and it's getting to be more and more the farm system for the NBA.  Yes Euro players are renowned for being "soft", but if you look at the new breed they are getting more and more physical - look at Pau, Marc Gasol, Rudy Fernandez, Luis Scola (Argentinian but I still consider him Euro), even guys like Roney Turiaf and Sasha Vujacic are getting tougher and tougher.  It's an exciting prospect that will only make the NBA better.

He's the number 2 draft pick of the NBA..... He is said to be the best international point guard to come out of Europe for a long time.

I'm not comparing NBA to Europe here, I know it's very different. I made a comparison of him against the USA team. Where both Kidd and CP struggled to keep him at bay because of his tremendous skill and movement with the ball. He has the mentality and the composure to be in any NBA team. Don't think of yourselves that highly, blademaster, it shows a lot of arrogance and ignorance towards the rest of the basketball world.

The fact is, Dirk, Gasol, Calderon, Bargnani, Pietrus, Parker, Turkoglu, Scola, Ming, Ginobili, Nene and Fernandez are all fantastic players. And take this into account, there was never much hype about many of them before they reached the NBA, and on the other hand, there is for Ricky. Although this could be a bad thing, if you watch some of his matches, you will see why it isn't. I recommend you watch the Olypmics final, you will see what I am talking about.

ok the point I tried making is that: there are a lot of international stars who come here but they don’t succeed. They may do good in Europe but when they come here it takes them some time to get acclimated to everything else. I’ll watch the finals thingie, seen other good teams in Olympics in the past... that were very good, like in 1990s and early 2000s. Also watched the FIBA too, but yeah there are a lot of good international players I’m not negating that , I’m just saying it’s not the same playing there in Europe or anywhere else around and here in NBA. NBA is more physical, than European style of basketball.

I think you have to take into account that basketball in Europe isn't as popular is it is in the US, and you do have a far wider choice of people to choose from than Europe does, as well as the fact that colleges exist all around the US that deal with specific basketball/american football scholarships. It's very rare in Europe to find such a school that excels in certain sports.

The international players who have succeeded have excelled, and the thing is, you're saying that "there are a lot of international stars". I've looked at the active rosters, and there are very very few interntational players in the first place. So there isn't much to go by. Naturally you will pick american players of internationals, so it's really hard to say somthing like that blade. Thing is, the current international who ARE playing are doing an amazing job. Rudy Fernandez getting the most 3s ever achieved by a rookie in his first season, Gasol being an absolute rock for the Lakers. Marc Gasol proving his worth for the Memphis (most accurate rookie of the year in terms of shooting % and his number of assists higher than many). Parker proving again that he is a true menace as a point guard and can win games solely on his performance. Calderon showing how tremendous his teamplay is and his assist ratio, although his defence is lacking, he makes it up in the number of assists and points per game. Nene who is a force to reckon with in the center.
