christian science monitor reporters?
that sounds better......at least you are not contradicting yourself from post to post.........As far as "control room" goes......why do you not consider it propaganda like you do all American journalism??.......Sounds like Al Jeezera is attempting a form of damage control with this documentary......although i will confess, I have not yet seen it but am willing to watch it so we are on the same page.Marconius wrote:
Sorry for the confusion, but I'll stick to my statements if you allow me to explain myself. So I'm not allowed to parse through US, British, and Arabic news in an attempt to find the truth? I'll revise my statement to be: "When it comes down to trusting the US media over Al Jazeera for what's happening in the Middle East, I'm going to lean towards Al Jazeera as US media has just lost all credibility with me."
"Control Room" goes over the US backlash against Al Jazeera just because Al Jazeera was trying to represent both sides of the conflict. They translate and air the broadcasts from Bush, Rumsfeld, and the US, plus gave airtime to those against the US occupation of Iraq. Al Jazeera is also extremely stringent on who they interview, meaning it has to come from a well-supported official from either line of thought, and not just some randomly chosen person with an agenda to push.
It goes over how the US media at CentCom kept trying to control what the media (Read: ALL media outlets, not just Al Jazeera) was going to report, plus the "accidents" the US military had when it took out three reporting teams from Al Jazeera and other Arabic news sources in three separate events...all on the same day.
ya know.....there was fahrenheit 911 then came fahrenHYPE 911..........you can make a documantary say anything you want Marconius....doesn't make completely true, but as long as you found one that pushes your beliefs then go with it.
PS ......and you are absolutely obliged to reference all the sources you want in a sencere attempt to piece together the truth but..........that clearly is not what you said.............your revised statement merits no arguement from me.

Also Marconius.........your attempt to throw a blanket of conspiracy over the deaths of the Al Jeezera reporters might hold water If............................they were the only journalist to be killed in the conflict........unless of course you are going to scream conspiracy over the deaths of the other 80 or so journalist killed...............maybe you could find in Al Jeezera a report where Bush had Danial Pearl beheaded

Off-topic, The Da Vinci Code is freaking awesome! Dan Brown sure does his research.
I'll go along with the idea that the US press is inaccurate and, in general, isn't very good. It's the old problem: Sensationalism sells (I don't really believe that they distort the news for any patriotic purpose - quite the opposite).
Problem is, Al-Jazeera is in the business of making money too, just making it from different people. Different attitudes, different sensationalism. In the end, you should do what you implied you would: look at all of them and see where they overlap. It's the only way to see what is really going on.
For God's sake, don't TRUST any of them!

I'll make ONE comment about this.Tetrino wrote:

All he says is true is the architecture stuff etc. The theories (all the controversial stuff) are THEORIES. Interesting points of discussion, but THEORIES. He cannot say it is true, though he may THINK so. He makes this quite clear on his website.
About al-jazeera.
Did you know that they were the first to try and get into Aceh after the tsunami (though the military strictly says NO!!!!)? Shows that they care about their jobs.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

Did you know that Aceh, as a region, tends toward a stronger Islamist tradition than the rest of Indonesia, and has a strong successionist movement? Explains a lot about Al-Jazeera's interest.

One time they pulled a Paladin in and parked it next to me about 30 feet away. I didn't even wake up.whittsend wrote:
Brings back memories. First time I heard the Paladins fire was in the middle of the night for an Illum mission (They must have put up 10-15 rounds and they lit up the sky like Day!). Scared the shit out of me before I figured out what it was. It's plenty loud on the firing end...hope I never am on the receiving end!GunSlinger OIF II wrote:
but ill lie if I said I didnt jump 5 feet when a paladin decided to fire away right behind me without me knowing it.

You are Aware that michael moore's " Fahrenheit 911 " was Not a Documentary, nor did he call it that.lowing wrote:

If he had, he would have been sued. Sometimes the Network News would refer to it a such.
I don't know if it was laziness, carelessness, subterfuge or wishfull thinking on their part.
I watched " Fahrenheit 911 ", The one he did about Flint, Michigan, I believe it was called
" Roger and Me "and " Bowling for Columbine " All were rife with obvious ( Child like really ) attempts at skewing your perception and hiding the reality of the situation. It was insulting to anyone but the very young.
