I have started to hear speculation about who will run for president in 2008, and my question is Democrats- name a Republican who you could consider voting for, and Republicans name a Democrat who you would consider voting for????

Whilst there are many Republicans I would never vote for two that I would consider are John McCain, or Colin Powell. McCain has some social policy’s that make me nervous, and Powell has some credibility issues because of his speech at the U.N. but they both seem fairly moderate Republicans.

P.S. Despite my leanings toward the Democratic Party I really really dislike Hillary Clinton

Chcuk Norris has won every local, state and federal election since 1978. he merely lets others run things in his place. Killing is a full time job.

Seeing as how I am a registered independent, I get to pick two people, woohoo!

My Democratic candidate: Lieberman, if he had a personality. He is somewhat hawkish, which I like, but he is well grounded it seems.

Repbulican candidate: I am not sure. Nobody has positioned themselves in my eyes.

We shall see what kind of people with vision we can get.

I'm pretty much a Democrat, but the two you listed were also my pics, with my first being John McCain.

The biggest problem I see with either of them getting the nomination is the same thing that got Bush elected.  The ultra right-wing fruitcakes that want to turn this country into a Christian version of the middle east wouldn't accept them because they aren't conservative enough for their tastes.  They want religion back into schools and government, and will only agree to a candidate that is quite far to the right.

It's sad too, because both parties have become polarized at the extreme ends.  Everyone wants everything or nothing, and the moderates that could find some common goals, and provide a little give and take, to at least get something that benefits everyone are called "wishy washy" by their respective party affiliates.

Good question, Scary question. Am I alone in thinking we defiantly need new blood? I like McCain to but I may be blinded because I see him as such a Hero.
Dean?  He was a good Gov in VT. But VT's needs are simple and narrow in scope. Act 250, Pray IBM and Martian/Marrietta  ( GE ) don't leave and that's about it. Even then there was some really unrealistic and heavy handed shit he did with the environment in an effort to look good. Oh yea and Zebra Muscles Damn them also. Being a successful politician in Vermont Doesn't seem like a prerequisite to me

This lap top keyboard vexes my so don't bitch about typos.. ok

I don't feel moderation is the Key either, I think that only restricts both parties ability to produce once they get in.  I may be wrong but my feeling is the reason parties are calling for moderates is that neither has produced a viable candidate that can even unite their own party, so a moderate can draw a little support from the other and can swing a close election, and all the Elections have been close since Bush Vs clinton. I myself am not seeking a moderate. Reagan was by no means a moderate and he took many Democratic votes. I have not Voted for a candidate I wanted in office for a long time. I find myself " Voting Against someone " or some "Idea " I strongly disagree with. Its sad.

Too bad Colin Powell is not going to run.  I'd vote for him.
Who knows who the next candidates will be, Clinton came out of nowhere and won.

Colin Powell didn't really accomplish anything, I like the fact that he served with honor in a Country that didn't really treat him well at the time. But he Just doesn't seem like he has much more to offer than anyone else. It will be interesting to see who fields the first black or woman Presidential candidate.

clinton only got in because a Republican Conservative  ( Bush )

Was running against a Super Conservative ( Perot )

clinton accumulated less actual votes in 1992 than G.W.Bush got in 2000

The Media really played Presidential Candidate R. Perot against Presidential Incumbent Bush. If Perot lagged they pumped him up and attacked Bush.

If Perot started to climb in polls they attacked him and supported Bush to split the ticket.

They did it again in 96 with Dole / Perot vs  cliton

Who came name a liberal who ran in 92 96 2000 2004? The media buried Brown and Nader.

They came right out and said " Remember a vote for Nader is a Vote for Bush "

They also Really Pushed " The Economy and Homelessness "

and Forgot all about it the day clinton got in.

Weeeeee no more homeless people, It was magic. where did they all go ?

Hmm. I'm Christian and right-wing, but I don't want to turn the US into a "christian version of the middle-east". I merely wish to see a halt to public and government persecution of all religions (barring illegal activity), not just Islam. When a public school is forcing Allah down kids' throats, but denying students the right to have a voluntary Christian prayer group if they want, there's something wrong with the picture.

Anyway, here's my dream-team.

Saddam/Kerry 2008, this is the democrates dream ticket.  Personally I think it will be Hillery/Dashle. And the Republicans will make the mistake of running the ad "Lets Lick Hillery in 2008".  Bill Clinton will become the 1st man, Chelsey will become an Intern at the White house and Bill will have sex with her in the Ovulate Orfice.  The resulting book deal will make them both rich, but all the media attention will just confuse people in Arkansas where this is seen as normal father/daughter interaction.
