actually they are based on GTX 285 cores... at stock voltage they go around 680. extra voltage does wonders for the B3 cores but temps are starting to limit my oc. 93c max load....

That doesn't make much sense. Doesn't the 285 have higher stock clocks than the 260?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. temps are my bottleneck... yes GTX 285 has a slightly higher stock voltage so it goes over 750 for core but in dual gpu sandwich it gets toasty...

NVIDIA states that the new GPU specification sits “between” a GeForce GTX 260 (216 core) and GeForce GTX 280. We tend to disagree with this assessment. In our opinion it leans closer to the GeForce GTX 260 (216 core) than it does a GeForce GTX 280.

NEVER has a dual-PCB NVidia card been based on the high end single card. it's generally a hybrid of the two, usually settling in slightly closer to the next step down.

As for the overclock on the GTX 295+ being tiny....... duh? NVidia didn't want any overclocked versions to be available at release... just like they've done i believe for the rest of the GTX 200's. And when i bought the card, it was $509.99. the standard one WAS $499.99, and i don't think it was on Newegg when i bought the 295+. Now, the standard version is $504.99 on Newegg. I don't really see any reason why going for the mildly overclocked version would be such a bad thing... especially since they say even a very slight overclock is noticable on the GTX 295.

The GTX 295 has two 240SP cores. Same B3 cores as GTX 285 has. The memory system is from GTX 260 cards.

And there is absolutely no games in which you can notice 3% difference. Having a limited production card with 3% higher clocks is more like a pr stunt than anything.

Panzer: well... Crysis/Crysis Warhead could be noticable.... since they both run pretty far under 100fps when maxed out. Older games, and games nowhere close to as detailed, yeah... 3% wouldn't be much of a change. But like i said.... from what the eVGA tech rep said, the + also should have the capabilities to overclock higher than the vanilla GTX 295. Neither he, nor i, said ANYTHING about the GTX 295+ coming stock with an extremely high overclock, nor did we say anything about the overclock that it has being remarkable..... just that it's slightly overclocked from stock, technically should be able to overclock higher, and is no longer produced.

3% of under 100fps is not noticeable. You will not notice a difference of under 5fps generally.

0.o wow.... seeing that makes me glad i got an Asus Eee PC 1002HA. seriously easy to upgrade the hard drive and memory by just removing two tiny panels designated for doing just that from the bottom of the netbook. much easier than removing the keyboard anyway.
