They did give people what they want, there are some great city maps in special forces. Too bad so many people dont want to buy it for some reason.
But Special Forces time doesn't add to your BF2:vanilla time does it? I mean that's the main reason I don't play it. It takes enough of my time going from First Sarg to Master Guns that I dont' have time to waste on special forces maps. Or correct me if I'm wrong.
Correction commencing...
Every point, award and minute played on an SF map is added to your total. You can earn all the vanilla awards (except the jet pilot ones, of course) by playing SF. Often you will get 2 similar infantry badges within a few kills of each other, as the SF varieties require a few more kills.
The only thing that doesn't transfer is army time.
If you can't live without the Navy Cross and its MEC and PLA counterparts you have to log 250 h per army.
See you in 750...
So don't miss out, go play some SF!
There are maps there for every taste, and the grapple hook and zip line let you use *all* the buildings, not just the ones with ladders or stuff you can jump to from the hatch of a vodnik. Hell, you can even use all those balconies for your sniping pleasure! In vanilla they are just window dressing.
Enjoy Karkand? Try Warlord! Great place for awards. No helis.
Sharqi your fave? Try Ghost town!
Now that the TOW bug is fixed there is loads of unique fun to be had on the night maps.
@ the OP: I disagree.
Granted, the maps are too big for their number of players, but server admins are finding that out and putting up 32players/16map & 40-50/32 servers.
Huge armor battles on Taraba, fantastic infantry action on 32/16 Great Wall. I love that map. The 32 map lacks focus and has too many vehicles, but 16 is just what the doctor ordered. 95% of the action is where it should be: on and inside the wall.
Smoke screen is somewhat disappointing, mainly because of unbalanced and bug-ridden EU aircraft.
The Tiger AH is very hard to land without damaging it, and even taking off is buggy.
The Eurofighter is a joke. It handles like a bus with wings, not like the highly agile plane it is IRL.
If these bugs are fixed at some point i believe the map will be another winner. Good, semi-symmetrical layout with lots of terrain features to use to your advantage. Towers and burning cisterns galore to mask your heat signature, huge plumes of sooty smoke to hide in, open vistas for vehicles, clustered buildings for some CQB, nice mountain ridges, no annoying bombers...
