Hey Ive seen alot of stuff and coplaints abotu the downloader related issues.
Heres a couple of things to keep in mind.
1) You must be using Internet explorer 6 (have installed at least)
Thats why that core error appears and the black screen.I had this issue back when SF came out Had IE7 beta installed.Finally after tons of crap I was able to get rid of the beta and reinstall IE6.Worked like a charm then.
2) Gamespy and EA accounts
Something has changed between the two for sure cause the Way we all did SF has changed since this new EF
You have to make sure your gamespy ID is the same as your game (BF2) ID.Other wise you wont be able to play it even after installing it.
Email can be wtf ever ya want but the Gamespy ID / user name must be the same as the players name in BF2
Note to some be carefull cause Gamespy will only allow you to change your name 3 times per year I think.
