A while ago a guy who had gotten Euroforce early complained that it would not install on Windows 2000, only XP. Is this true? I don't want to buy it and then end up wasting money.

You need XP.
Bf2 supposedly works on windows 2000, however the EA Downloader will not install unless your o/s is XP, therefore you will not be able to download the expansion patch via EA Downloader.
And since there's no other way to get it...

ok...
I have read posts on other forums of people playing it with Win2k. I have actually already installed it on my Win2k computer and, it works. Just have to fix my gamespy name in the downloader then I should be set.
Here's what I did.
Get a blank CD.
Get to a PC with XP and a CD burner.
Put the downloader on the XP PC and purchase and download the game. Be sure the gamespy account you set up in the downloader is the same as your MAIN account you play on. Seems that EF can only run on one account.
After it''s downloaded continue with the installation. Even if BF2 isn't on the PC. The first 2 steps of the installation are just unzipping.
The third step actually starts the install. Just continue then cancel when the install screen comes up.
Now go to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\"Downloaderusername"
In there is a folder called. eagamesbf2-2006...... Burn that folder to a CD.
Take the CD home and install. There is a setup application in the folder to start the install. If all you usernames are straight you should be good to go.
I'm guessing most everyone knows someone with a PC using XP. If not try your local library. Just remember you need a burner or, if you have a USB 512m memstick that may work if the PC has USB.
My problem is my gamespy name I'm sure. I used my old one on the downloader. I didn't think it would lock it to that game account. I have to actually install BF2 on my friends computer to get to the option in the downloader to change the username. I though the Downloader was supposed to be convenient. They must have meant for EA not us. Hehe.
I will confirm if this works as soon as I get home.
