EVE is an excellent game when it comes to weeding out the weak and rewarding the strong.
So two days ago, my corp and I went on some pvp'ing and we were in a .4 sec in a random (supposedly) secure spot in space nowhere near anything, a so called "safe point" if you will. My friend, who will remain nameless, spotted a nasty Cyclone on his scanner a player from '05.
We're all farily new, noone is older than 2 years, so we were scared shitless. But, luckily the Cyclone wizzed by us, apparently a random coincidence.
Or was it?
3 minutes later when we were all scouting out people to attack, holy shit! the Cyclone appears out of nowhere and comes in guns ablazing. He takes out all 4 of us in 2 minutes. I lost my Thorax, which I finally fitted to its full potential, and they all had Vexors just to fuck around in.
No big loss to them, but for me...it was tragedy.

Refer to the golden rule - don't fly what you can't afford to replace.MorbiD.ShoT wrote:

Are you sure it was a cyclone and not a sleipnir? Or claymore?
Most definately like a 100 mil cyclone decked out in Eve's finest.MadKatter wrote:

lulz, u got wtfpwnt by minmitar.
I don't know if you guys are aware of this or not. there is a test server you can go on and try out ship fittings or fight each other without losing any of your assets on the main server. everything cots 100 isk. your skills will be set at whatever point they mirrored the main server. so you can fit your ship out to the max your skills allow and kill your friends and whoever else happens to be around.
Yes. But most of the newbies don't have it. Not to mention that they don't have enough skills trained up to even bother with proper fittings so it would be pointless. However, it would be good PvP experience.
it is good for pvp training. there are alot of unrealistic setups since people can fit any implant or module their skills allow. but it's still a good way to get used to how PVP is without the loss risk.Thorax wrote:

if anyone decides to try it out. you need to copy your eve install and paste it to a new file so you have a seperate client for the test server. go to the patch patch page on the main site and get the test server patch.

No, it weeds out all the people who bitched and moaned about GL in BF2, overpowered rifles in COD4, and they can't moan about an overpowered ship in EVE. If they lost their ship, they made a stupid judgement error.Thorax wrote:

Actually, the EVE game mechanics are superb at weeding out whiners. More often or not some of the game mechanics which cause whining (can flipping, suicide gank) are responded to by the devs by a 'live with it'.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

More places should do this tbh.Spark wrote:

Im thinking, maybe I should specialise in Torpedoes
If I max it out, I can do 1159dps

No, you'll do "as much damage as your enemies armor/shield resistances will allow you to" DPS.-_{MoW}_-Assasin wrote:

For instance on me, unless your using EM Torps, you're gonna have to cut thorough 12,000 armor hp at 80-85% resistances across the board. Torps and Missiles fire and travel entirely to slow to pop my tank unless I am extremely and completely overwhelmed.
Thats why I think they suck. I am much more scared of an up close blasterboat. I am royally fucked if that happens.

"The untimely death of fellow corp member Shitstick, on 2008.07.24, is a source of sorrow to me and his many friends in the corporation. Please accept our deepest sympathies in your bereavement. Shitstick was being reanimated at the cloning facility at the time when the fatal accident occurred. Shitstick was a fine person and was admired by his fellow corporation members. CONCORD has no record of Shitstick, he was probably not seen as a threat to the rest of us. We will all miss him. I realize that words can do little to console you at a time like this, but I want you to know that we share your sorrow."
