Ever since Hl2 deathmatch in 04 i've hated using the server browser because it's hard to navigate sometimes and does'nt show the server status in realtime.(Something which i've gotten so used to in bf2) But my major problem is that when you do connect to a server and it's full sometimes it tells you it's full other times when you're loading the game it says full. Same for reserve slots.

Karma's Bitch is right: the server browser in source games sucks donkey testes! ET:QW actually has a pretty badass server browser and friend finder.
Better than Gamespy's.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
I don't hate it. I've found it far better than every other online game I've played. Does get frustrating at times but overall it's the best I've used.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
That and the server by country browsing really helps me locate a game fast that I know will be stable (relatively anyway).
BF2 could have really used the browse by country thing.
BF2 could have really used the browse by country thing.

At least its "quick refresh" and ping filter worked. Unlike COD4's.Flecco wrote:

Oh wait, COD4 DOESNT HAVE A FUCKING PING FILTER.
Best Ive seen by far.
Open console and use the /connect <ip> command.Jenspm wrote:
Just to add why CoD server browsing fails:
You cannot search for servers
You cannot connect via IP
Playing clanwars is gonna be a bitch

The AU crew were kindly told this by Ashlite. Not sure where he got it from.

The reason why server sometimes are full when you load it and they are aroun 22/24 is often that they will fill out first. I often hunt for those server to. Don't think you are lonely when you are searching for a good server.
Guys this is about the source server browser not cod4. I can relate though, If the cod4 browser is anything like cod2 well then i have another reason to save my 50$.

CSS browser is easily the best I've ever used.
+It doesn't lag
+You can narrow your search down easily
+Sorting is easy
+It's quick
+You can be put on a joining queue
-Sometimes it will join you into a server and then say its full. Doesn't happen often though.
The thing about the live update, just right click on a server > View Server and it'll give you updated info without having to refresh the entire browser.
Honestly, better then any other browser I've used in any other game.

Yes
Yes, with a passion.
It's identical as far as I can determine. Even worse, back when I played CoD2 there weren't many Australian servers running so I could favourite them all easily.David.P wrote:

Often they were almost but not quite full too, so I could always get a good game.
Not so with CoD4. Which desperately needs CTF like CoD2.

It's far better than those in BF2 and BF2142 because those two are pretty slow and clumpsy.
Reserved slots are from a third party program and not that many servers use it.
While I don't see what's happening on the server when I click on it I can just right click and take server info and I will see who plays there and how much score they have.
I don't need to refresh my server EVERY SINGLE TIME I enter the server browser as in BF2142 and BF2. Like you join a server but wants to change and only got 3 chances before the server browser gimps up and stop you from joining any server.
