Hello All,

I just installed Counter Strike Source and a couple of servers have issued "cl_server_restrict_commands 0" before kicking. Anybody know exactly where to add this line? I am pretty confused, don't know which file to add to. I try config.cfg but after starting the game up, the line disappears.  Any kind soul? :-)

I just put it in my autoexec.cfg and it executes in when I start up now

If it isn't there, create it and add that line.
Make sure it's a .cfg file and not .cfg.txt as would be the case if "Hide extensions for known filetypes is on".

What you can do is put the following code in your Steam\steamapps\<your-steam-userid>\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg\config.cfg file

Code:

cl_restrict_server_commands 0

Then set that file to read-only in Windows.

   1. Right click on config.cfg file
   2. Select Properties
   3. Check "Read-only" at the bottom
   4. Appy

Cause all you have to do is create autoexec.cfg?

um server.cfg are for servers not clients...

Btw depending on what your config.cfg file is on. Like if you have read only activated, you would need to alter the file personally intead of just typing it into the console.

If you wonder what the command does it's just that it blocks most mani mod command and prevent users from messing with your config. Like changing your rates/name/controlls and such.

You don't really need an autoexe.cfg as the config.cfg will automatically put in these commands when you start the game.

Also you call that a long trouble? It's mearly to locate the file and then copy paste something into it. Barely any work at all.
