As I've just about squeezed every ounce of fu.. well, things to do out of oblivion I'm thinking of re-installing morrowind and giving it a go. Is it worth it? and are there any mods I should definetely use from the beginning?

I'll try and find the expansions too (are they worth it?)

opinions kplz.

Tribunal, the first expansion, is worth it if you are into the lore, and Bloodmoon is DEFINATELY worth it. It's got werewolves, tons of cool new enemies and it just generally rocks. I played Morrowind from beginning to end using no mods whatsoever, while Oblivion is virtually unplayable without mods.

k, Ill try to get ahold of em then. As such an experienced player, what would you recommend as the best class layout for a stealthy character for assasinations and theft? (i'm always the evil bastard in RPG's)

In oblivion the first time round I had absolutely no magical skills for example. The second time round I ditched all the useless skills and adopted illusion, alteration, and alchemy instead. Anything like that with morrowind?

Morrowind has the same strange attribute multiplier system, but since there's no level scaling like in OB, it's not as important as to which skills you level and when, so you can pretty much pick anything you want. for an assasin/thief, you'd want to be stealth-specialized of course. So short blade, light armor, maybe marksman, illusion, or pretty much whatever you want. Morrowind is a lot more forgiving than Oblivion. In Oblivion if you picked the wrong skills you are screwed. The enemies will increase in strength faster than you (due to the WTFBBQ level scaling system), but in MW you can pretty much take things slow and pick whatever skills you want, since (most) enemies don't level up with you.

For that time, the graphics were actually awesome.

One word. Mods. Oblivion is bullshit on a stick without mods.

The expansions are worth it (actually harder to complete the game as a werewolf) if you've already played through the game. I know Oblivion has a bigger area, but Morrowind just seems like a more finished game.

One of the huge selling points of PC games is the ability to download user modifications.

Oblivion to me  was pretty much just a waste of time, it left out many of the concepts of Morrowind, that made Morrowind, Morrowind... For examples being able to walk into a town as it starts to display itself to you, it was what made the long journey worth taking, and warm after the journey.... Now its like you go on a long journey on foot (or Oblivion by horse) and the scenery of a town isn't there to compliment you afterwards.  They're all gated its like they're trying to keep you out... Basically Oblivion left out many Concepts of the original one... That made it less fun.... It was boring and dual... While most of the original if I can call it that was exciting though it lacked graphics...
