I think the marines would have been dead after getting ambushed by the car and the machine gun, but good movie I guess.
The tranport gunner did cause damage on the marines but failed to get any kills. He was a little far away and when the transport was in motion, the gunner was very inaccurate.

Yeah.
No one told him about the whole going prone increases the accuracy thingy. Didn't matter in the end though. He got blown to bits by artillery...lol.
