Thought I could get past the nonsense of BF2 and CS:S? I thought wrong. My first CoD4 multiplayer experience has been on that sabotage server (edit: title) with a buddy and his brother. Two days of fun, right? Right. Early in the morning, around 2 to 4 AM PST? Dead wrong. I suddenly become aware of obscene rules that I've never before seen in effect by way of spammed admin warnings.
Don't bunny hop. Already knew, but I'm fine with that. Then they start hitting: don't stand and shoot. Don't duck and shoot. Don't go prone and shoot. Always be zoomed in. Expose your profile so you're an easier target for everything in sight. Don't stand in one place too long. Don't pick your nose. Don't spawn camp unless the spawn camper isn't you and only "accidently" happens to be next to the spawn point (this one I actually asked after I was brutalized five times in a row before I could turn around, but gently poo-pooed).
I'm sure there's some way to translate this all so it isn't an arcane pile of crap, but wouldn't it be easier to learn if you weren't frozen on the spot for target practice, and the rule warnings are spam-scrolled away by kills and more rule warnings? It's still a fun server, but steer clear of the rude, self-important admins.
I don't usually name names, but nK.Asmodaeus has the outright honor of entering my internatz hall of shame.
[edit: no clue if he was actually the spamdmin, but was an ass all the same; made the mistake of returning later only to get a smug "ahh" message from the console]
