As for fully destructable environments... I don't think any system could handle that right now. The physics involved to make a game where every piece of structure and land is disposable would be mind boggling.
Er, anyone recall a little game called Red Faction?
It did, in fact, have fully destructible environments. There were some limits to it, but that was several years ago, with the advances that have been made in the meanwhile, it should be possible.
1. Yes red faction was cool
2. You'd think that that would mean that fully destructible would be easy
3. Red faction had poor graphics and innacurate modelling, BF2 would be crap if it had poorly modelled destruction
4. The main issue with destructible environments is synchronisation, synchronising accurate destruction modelling, not the crap from red faction, on 64 machines would require a massively powerful server and at least a 2Mb upload speed, if not more.
5. Before you run around telling everyone how easy something is, make sure your right
6. There would be no point in playing if there were fully destructible environments, because as soon as someone got in their chopper, they could mow down the city, leaving nowhere to hide for all of the non-pilots out there
7. Never beleive everything you hear.

that'd be the nuke carrying chopper then? seriously, if you took the chopper over sharqi and just fired your missles at buildings for the whole round, only stopping to get more ammo, you'd still only get through a fifth of the map, if that. and why would you bother.

ummm... how about.... RUBBLE. Seriously, destroyed buildings would make a lot it, i think.

Battlefield 3 - American Revolution edition.  French soldiers, American freedom-fighters, Redcoats, muskets, cannons, horse-drawn enemy wheelbarrows, and they've somehow been able to turn a chicken into a rudimentary flashbang.

Battlefield 3 - Mech Edition.  There are two clans, the Eagles and the Wolves, each consisting of mechanized battalions of gigantic bi-pedal robots bristling with missiles, vulcan cannons, PPGs, and jump jets...oh wait, that's bene done before...they need to make another Mechwarrior :'(

This is probably far too early for posting on this, and I hope BF2 reigns supreme for many years to come, but what do you want to see in BF3, (the Battlefield series is so popular there will have to be another sequal, even if simply to shift with the times and avaliable technology.)

So what do want to see in this game that will eventually come around after BF2 ceases to become profitable, or I daresay, popular, (it happend to BF1942.)

I myself, and rather cynically, would like to see the game come to the shelves fully developed. The need for patches to erradicate glitches or bugs will not be needed, but patches will be to add new weapons, armies, veichles, maps etc.

So post your wishlist - go nuts. Veichles, weapons, time periods, armies - anything goes.
Just don't be fucking stupid. No virtual reality okay guys, we're not writing about a science fiction world here.
Not yet anyway.
Ok first off all who ever is gonna make the game.. before they will publish it.. it should first be extremely good tested.. on bugs what so ever.. and what I want to see.. um.. like some 2050 war.. like humans versus robots.. um.. it will be like this Halo/ Unreal Tournament 2004 vehicles and guns because those guns just rule.. but it need to be fought out on this really well known places.. maybe like in the streets of New York.. or Amsterdam.. etc.. and it needs to have some kind of story line.. and somethin even more cool it was a feature in James Bond: Nightfire on the gamecube.. there was the option to use a mini- tank of mini helicopter.. it would be cool to have like seperate kits that can use these helicopter for reconence (however u write it) and takin out infantry..(with limeted amount of bullets, and easy to take down.. else everybody would chose this kit) well this look cool to me

I have an idea that wouldn't really necessitate a whole new game, but ...

they should make spawn points linked like in Unreal Tournament 2004 except that the connections serve to speed up capture time, the farther away the base you're trying to capture is from your other bases, the longer it takes you to capture and vice versa.

I'd like to see:
-------- Edited (for size/ease of read)-------
*New Maps
Teglen> More new maps is always an easy 'win' over us gamers. We ALL want more maps.

*New Kits
Laptop guns that stick to walls like in "Perfect Dark".
C4 that sticks to people.
Binoculars.
Laser designators for auto pinpoint missile strike (small splash area).
Security cameras that create mini UAV (without the rotating line and noise; just shows troops in that area)
Teglen> All these would be great additions to BF2:SF today let alone BF3! More sneaky-beaky tools please

*New Vehicles
Teglen> Again, any new vehicles is always a good thing

*New Commander Abilities
Team points awarded to both squads and commander for accomplished tasks.
Teglen> One of the best things that BF2 has done for FPS gaming is to promote better teamwork amongst strangers on public servers (and clans too - but more importantly amongst transient groups of gamers). It has done this through the structure of squads, player assigned objectives (squad leaders/commanders) and rewarding players that aid/assist that squad or other team members (by being Medic, Support, Engineer, Spec-Ops, Pilot, etc, etc).

Now... I'd be the first to admit that we all know the squad/reward structure is not 100% perfect, and in fact on some days in some (mostly public) servers the thing actually reverts into chaos.... but personally I think that ideas like the one that
Lightning has proposed above could actually do a lot more to further promote better teamwork - by again, and this is key... rewarding players for that behaviour. True it isn't gonna fix everything overnight and will probably never get rid of TK'ers, exploiters or general chaos that always takes grip at some point... but hey, as Tesco's says: "every little helps" huh?

Well, it certainly gets this soldiers vote.

*New Awards
Grenade badge
Espionage badge (Destroyed commander assets)
Teglen> These should be there today really, especially the Espionage (anything to promote tactical play rather than stat whoring for points).

Purple heart awarded to someone who takes enemy fire and kills a certain number of people while wounded.
Teglen> Great idea, I like the possible scenario...  with my last dying breath, mustering all my remaining energy to squeeze my finger around the C4 detonator trigger... to send that enemy squad straight to hell (that'll teach em for dancing around my dying body).

Service ribbons and medals awarded to squad leaders who obey commander orders and to squad members who obey squad leader orders.
Teglen> As mentioned above anything that promotes or rewards better teamwork is a good thing!

Teg out.

I don't know about you guys, but I really dont want to see it go to the future with robots, lasers and such. What if they when back to World War 2? Sure its been done to death but with all of the new features of Bf2 I think it would work.

I think it should be in a near future (like in 20 -30 years) with realistic guns (no laser) but with some nice thought innovation and new vehicle desing (awsome tank and chopper of the near future)
I dlike to see Spec Ops with overide gadget (place an overide on UAV trailler to see where it is looking, for an example)
Some mission would add some spice to the series too. (like keeping a position for x time or free POW and get back alive! they could put that as a type of game (to keep the actual gameplay intact)
More VoIP option would be cool (speek private with anybody on th team!)

And kick some new country in (and some new place to fight!) Europe and North America is in my thought!

Tell me what you think!

I want the ability to capture your enemies! having a POW camp can mean that there is no more Spawning them! And the ability to interrogate the POW!

How about different play styles? Like Capture the flag / King of the hill / bombing / Assasination / Whatever

I think it would be cool if one could lay down their life for their squad so many times and get an award.

Medal of honor (posthumously)

If a grenade comes in and I jump on it it would lessen the effect and not kill my squad.  or If I was in a vehicle and purposly drove in front of my teams tank to take the shell from the enemy tank.

I absolutely agree with Randomfire.  I can't count the number of times I've provided covering fire for my squad to get across a street or or for a medic to get to a fallen squadmate and also to provide a distraction so the rest of the squad can sneak around the back to cap the flag, but did I get any awards or points for it? No.

I think something like Day of Defeat missions (take out the radio station, blow the artillery, take the objectives, etc, etc)  with Batllefield vehicles and more squad/platoon (multiple squads working together) gameplay would be amazingly fun.
