Am I the only person who still plays a bit of Freespace every now and then?
Was just playing that for 6 hours strait then I looked at the time and was like Holey shit. good game Hate the TEC faction I play as the religious ones that have temple of harmone and what not
Just played 3 hours straight myself, have to say on medium the computer are challenging, it was 3v3 now its 2v3 and soon its gunna be me vs 3. Gunna get raped. Luckily I took over a whole star system for myself, theres only one way they can get in Just building the biggest fleet I can afford to hold of their combined forces.
Speaking of epic battles....
During a 4v4 singleplayer match, I reached that point where if I wanted to expand, I'd have to...coerce the populations of planets (with nukes and whatnot). Having been poked and prodded by a Vasari fleet several times, I figured enough was enough. I amassed 2 Radiance-class battleships (imagine an arrowhead with a Death Star gun mounted to its chin), 30 Disciple-class light frigates, 10 Illuminator long-range frigates, 4 Purge nuke frigates, 2 Defense anti-fighter frigates, 8 Destra Crusaders (long-range anti-everything cruisers), 2 drone carriers, 2 shieldships, and 2 Domina Subjugators (mess-wif-yo'-head cruisers).
Considering my last scout had discovered a battleship at that planet during its last scouting run, I enlisted the help of one of my computer allies, who sent in 30 light frigates, assorted cruisers, a carrier, and 2 battleships.
Needless to say, everything went well.
When I got there, I found not one, but three Vasari battleships. Focusing everyone on the highest leveled one, I was able to destroy it. The other two escaped, though with heavy damage to both. Halfway through, some nice marauding pirates happened to stumble upon our battle and were summarily destroyed by 60+ light frigates, 30+ cruisers, and 5 battleships.
Congratulations, I know own the asteroid of Tyr!

In Freelancer, I camped with five buddies outside the space station of a rival player faction with a supply line of land mines and missiles coming in and being deployed. Those were some good times as well.
