I think that Battlefield 2142 is a great game if you look at it from the point of view of the storyline and whatnot, but the graphics and everything else are real bad. Honestly, when I saw the video of it at E3, the game looked and was just in general so much better than it was in the release, here's some reasons:
Titan Mode HUD. In the alpha, the titan mode HUD looked very cool. It had two bars that went down as the titan shields went down, and so on. The new one they added is too cartoony and stupid, and I don't see at all why they changed it. Also, the little things on the minimap looked cooler
Titans. In the alpha, there were no fancy permanent shields over the hangar, and they were also lower, and they could drop Battlewalkers like Britany Spears drops babies.
Missile Silos. The missile silos looked cooler in the alpha.
That clicky noise. If you notice in the overcom things, it sounds like "click The enemy has taken silo 4. click"
Other game modes. The guy said in the video that there would be other game modes and things like that, such as CTF.
I can think of all sorts of ways that Battlefield 2142 could have been a lot better, besides the graphics and adding the things I mentioned. Some of them include being able to bring down the hull integrity with conventional weapons, such as the missiles on a gunship or something. It would also be nice if they added the Union of African States, mentioned in one map description I believe, as a playable team.
Also, one thing that was lost in the current release is armor-piercing bullets. In the video, it can be clearly seen that the guy could fend off a gunship with an assault rifle. The one thing though that would top it all is a singleplayer game. Battlefield 2142 has such a rich storyline to it, and that first trailer made me hope there would be a singleplayer and everything. That trailer is just so cinematic and everything.
It sent chills down my spine at the end when the narrorator said: "The battle for earth...had begun."
