This text was under the pics as well (didnt notice it before).
It does look more like Generals than C&C3 doesnt it? Hmm. Well i'm just going by what the site said. The last screenshot looks like it has better graphics than the rest for some reason.

I notice I'm not the only one who is noticing that they're copying Total Annihilation + Core Contingency expansion.* Boats are back! For the first time since Red Alert 2, Command & Conquer's got naval warfare again.
* Amphibious Boats! Someone's been playing Supreme Commander.
* Telsa Boats! The naval action keeps getting better. Electricity and water: two great tastes that taste great together!
* Tesla Troopers, Tesla Coils, & Double-Barrelled tanks are back! Well, duh, how likely was this?
* Naval Bases? Looks like more than just a shipyard in that last shot; I see a power plant as well at the very least. A taste of The Core Contingency, perhaps?
Is that an "I hope to God thats not RA3"?FloppY_ wrote:

on another note I'd hit her.

They've just recently released a game called Universe At War: Earth Assault....
oh btw: Petroglyph = Westwood !
Mammoth tanks, those were something to drool over in the old games.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Besides which, I enjoyed C&C 3 well enough.
I thought C&C 3 was really lacking.
But they were missing the walker setup.
They came back as Petroglyph tho. I wish they could bring back Kyrandia! Those games were the greatest.Phatmatt wrote:

Though I have allways preferred the Tiberium Universe over the cliché Red alert one

RA2 was really fun in LAN games... I don't like that generals-style so much... I hope they tweak it a lot...

Red Alert series was my drug, RA3 will hopefully live up to the Red Alert name.
I really hated Generals for some reason, the fact that you just needed a few uber powerful units to win, IMO the fun part with RTS games is building a huge army and bulldozing the enemy main base.
10x prism tanks + 3x IFVs with Engineers = WIN
10x Apocalypse tanks = MORE WIN

Didn't like SC, too slow paced and strategic for me, Red Alert 2 was perfect, hopefully 3 will be good.FloppY_ wrote:

It all looks pretty underwhelming. Except that last screenshot. Building bases on water . Not seen that since Total Annihilation custom units.
C&C3 Kanes Wrath should be for you,,,PBAsydney wrote:

The new EPIC units are epic
And tbh, 4 fully upgraded and promoted mammoths can handle just about anything you can throw at them in C&C3
Certainly more than only 10 prism tanks

It had all the classic CnC aspects (which were lost in generals which was a let down) plus many new things to make the game more fluid. You still get the side bar with your map and build queues, but it has been expanded to show more info.Cyrax-Sektor wrote:
I thought it lacked a lot of the classic CnC aspects for me. It's a rather primitive RTS after all these years, nothing revolutionary. They spent too much time on FMVs.DoctaStrangelove wrote:
How'd they kill Tiberium, CnC3 was pwnage.Cyrax-Sektor wrote:
EA, you better not screw up the RA series! You killed Tiberium, but spare the Soviets and Allies!
And the bit about it being "primitive" is the exact reason why it is such a good game. In most RTS games these days there is no macro-strategy, its all micro. The way your tanks are facing and the place your infantry has usurped the way you intend to go about beating your foe, and the former isn't really strategy. CnC3 may seem like it lacks depth compared to other games these days, such as CoH and WiC, however that's because in CnC3 mirco managing your units has been stressed much, much less than in CoH and WiC. Conversely CnC3 is more about actually using a strategy than the other games are. You can harass their economy, turtle/tech up, or just move fast to build good units and defeat your enemy while he's still expanding. In the other games you have very few units so the focus is less on your army as a whole and more on a single unit, this means that your really aren't playing a strategy game, your playing what's closer to an action game.
Anyway I just hope that they don't fuck-up the story for RA3. Most people don't know but the Tiberium and RA universe is actually the same, Kane and the Brotherhood make an appearance in the final cutsence for the Soviet campaign in RA1 and the incident with Yuri in RA2 seems like a perfect cataylst for the formation of GDI. However RA1 takes place in the early 50's and RA2 in the late 60's so that means their is about 25 years between RA2 and Tiberium Dawn that their can be another war.
I always thought RA2 looked a bit cartoonish. The graphical style i mean.mcgid1 wrote:

What do you expect from a 2D game lol.Spidery_Yoda wrote:

Anyway, I don't like the whole activated effect thing on like every single unit, just to make them more useful. I guess that's because of my experience trying to deploy GIs with a Yuri or Desolator selected near them.
I didn't mindSpidery_Yoda wrote:

8x prism tanks chronosphered next to enemy construction yard = win. There was absolutely no way to stop them from destroying it.

Chronosphere and Iron Curtain were 3x3 areas.
I remember the second last Allied campaign in the original, the one where the soviets have three nuke silos in Cuba, I chronoed 5 Hovercrafts full of seals in and blew the shit out of the whole base, everything was dead except for the tanks

From gamespy again: http://planetcnc.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=148017According to a translation of the Hungarian PC Guru article posted by Dreamguard.James, Red Alert 3 will feature the Allies (duh) and the Soviets (double duh) as well as, for a third faction... Japan! Among other interesting tidbits, the translation also asserts that the campaign will be fully co-op capable, and that the classic "minerals on the ground" system will be returning.
Those other screenshots ARE Red Alert 3 look:
