Can anyone recommend a program such as FRAPS which will do this compression beforehand (i.e. don't have to re-format the video after it is recorded), ready to be directly uploaded to YouTube with minimal editing and interference?

Try Aphex Twin, Genghis Tron, Autechre, or any other really irregular off-beat electronic music on Ninja Mono. Whereas I thought blisteringly-fast heavy metal would be the 'hardest', it ends up being quite simple because of the predictable time signatures and the constant tempo. The really glitchy / Intelligent Dance Music electronica stuff changes time signatures every 5 seconds though, and the beats are really hard to keep up with. Hard hard hard!

Don't mean to gripe, but since buying this game there hasn't been a moment when some form of server/database hasn't been down. Poor support or what? If you're going to distribute your game through Steam and have it promoted to potentially tens of thousands of gamers- then buy the bloody server hardware and tech support to cope with the demand! Waste of time playing this game at the moment if you have a competitive streak (as I of course do ).

I just got the Stealth Legend achievement (Don't hit any gray blocks while playing as Ninja Mono on a song over 11 minutes long). Metallica's "Mercyful Fate"... it was pretty damn hard but I just had to focus on not hitting gray (hence the low score, I didn't try to get a lot of blocks)
