just put green crystals everywhere and give them flame damage like burning cars

dropships into GDI/NoD versions
re-skin tanks into predator/scorpian (not mammoth, you won't get that cause that might be cool, or avatar Walker)

Ive had every C&C game since the very beginning (although started with Red Alert, first game I ever bought almost exactly 10 years ago) except for C&C3.
At a guess, Id say Ive spent about 5000hours playing C&C games in my life, of which 80% of that was dedicated to Red Alert 1.
I had it on PS and PC, where for a whole year, a friend and myself would meet up every weekend and play link-up via PC on the saturday and link-up on the PS on the Sunday.
And, I think of the entire series so far, Generals and Zero Hour have been the worst for MP vs humans. Single player and vs AI, fine. But the sheer amount of superweapons and abilities makes it less strategic and more of a defensive, SW gangfuck. Where the fuck is the skill in that?
Seriously, build 3 PC's, couple that with an A10 strike, Spectre, MOAB, Carpet Bomb and then send in a few bombers that nobody can shoot down until AFTER they have delivered their payload (even worse with the FAB Auroras due to the explosion itself) and you have weapons that in the most case cannot be touched AND, when they can, normally after they have devastated your entire base and army if you were foolish enough to build one in the first place.
You get punished for building actual units and not structures.
Generals was a lot fairer without all of that shite, but still retained the Auroras and multiple SW's. The Nuke and Scud Storm are the most powerful thing ever, 3 of them and you have lost virtually an entire base.
Invisible helicopters? Super-cannot-be-run-over infantry? 30 Rebels appearing out of thin air in the middle of an enemy base? Artillery barrage every 6minutes that cannot be stopped without removing their CC? Ability to make your ENTIRE BASE invisible? Realism, believability and game balance has gone right out the window.
Red Alert 2 was the same - hugely overpowered Superweapons but minus the abilities, which made it better. But it failed in other areas, including balance, playability and "realism" (Weather Storms and highly armoured airships?? Get real). The Yuri army was a total farce, fucked up and unbalanced, and is only there to fit the storyline of brainwashing someone to fire nukes. And not to mention the new Prism Towers for the Allies, which is basically a more powerful Tesla Coil and they could combine with other Prism Towers to fire one, massive, focused beam. Tesla Coil? Pfft, they are shit now. They were feared in RA1, now they are useless.
Compare the Superweapons and abilities to those of Red Alert.
- A single A-Bomb every 10minutes no matter how many silos you built that could take out a MAXIUMUM of 4 buildings (main, i.e. non defensive such as pillboxes), and that was only if 4 advanced powerplants were built right next to each other. The devastation caused to tanks was minimal and could only kill lightly armoured vehicles such as Rangers/Artillery/Tesla Tanks/V2 Rockets.
- Chronosphere which could teleport a SINGLE unit anywhere on the map for 3minutes before it returned to its original location. Usefullness? Next to nothing except teleporting a single Cruiser or Radar Jammer near the enemy base (RJ was always good fun).
- Iron Curtain which made a single tank invincible for 1 minute. Impact on the game: minimal, but coupled with a MAD tank in Aftermath was a genius, even if it wasnt powerful enough to kill any units unless they were already damaged.
Emphasis: Ground based assault, with lightly armoured and fairly balanced aircraft in support. And, best of all, it included naval battles. OK, they got the Naval balance wrong (despite what they said Cruisers could take out Subs...5 Cruisers could easily despatch a group of 30 subs, submerged or not)...but how many maps feature te ability to decimate an entire enemy base with Cruisers? Very few, so the effect is quite small.

I remember games on Red Alert that comprised of no less than 200 tanks. Mammoth Tanks. Per side. Now, tell me that that is not fun.
As far as Im concerned, this entire series has gone downhill since EA took over (and thats not just based on their BF2 fuckups).
Bring back Westwood Studios (without EA rule) who knew how to make a game. If it wasnt for Vista and not allowing me to play RA1, Id have sold Generals by now and never played it with RD like I have recently.
