Sooooooooo, after playing GHII at a friends house, I´ve bought GHIII for my Xbox360 yesterday.

I´ve started career mod on easy becaus my little cousine visited me and wanted to play. Pretty funny, but too easy imo (guess thats why it´s called easy huh?)

Well, after the little brat left, I´ve bought some additional songs in game, like In Flames "Take this life" and choose professional. My girlfriend said something like, ah you gonna rule this as you can play it on real guitars with closed eyes and reverse hands.

I was like, yeah, sure

Hell f*cking no. I wasnt even able to play the first riff completley

After all I´ve seen about GH on youtube etc. I´ve always thought, well, this maybe hard for a non musician, or non guitar player, but I have to tap my hat. This is damn hard.

You cant compare playing on those five buttons to playing on real 6strings, but hey, this one is really challenging and fun.

Btw, my girl pointed the finger at me after the 5th attemp failing

It's damn cool

I can play any song on hard, and about half on expert, but can't play real guitar that well...

I'd actually say it helped me alot though, cos I'm currently learning still to play the guitar to a good standard, and it's helpe dmy fingers become more agile.

It's a damn good game, but I prefer Guitar Hero 2

I wouldn't give up on the game too quickly. I don't own the game and have only played it at a friends place. When i started i was pretty bad but now i can match my friend and frequently beat him.

Although i will agree that playing to the music makes things very difficult. Such as when the note changes yet the button stays the same or the songs plays three notes but you are only meant to press twice. Really irritating when it ruins your 100%. Damn "Even Flow"

What difficulty were you playing on? I know sometimes if I am playing a song on hard I will mess up because I will hear an extra note, but if I put it on expert I don't have much difficulty.

Rock Band on the other hand, is ridiculously fun. I remember at one point I was playing lead guitar and had a friend hold a microphone up to me so I could sing at the same time. Another friend was playing drums. Sad part is that he screwed up too much and dropped out, meanwhile I'm attempting to hold the gig together by playing guitar on hard (yeah I know not expert, stfu i don't care) and singing a song I've only heard a few times.

As i said, i don't own the game so i haven't had the experience to play on expert. I play medium if i'm trying for 100% or hard when i feel like getting better/challenging myself.

I can play on Hard and I've been playing since the summer. Then again I don't practice much. Just start off on easy, work up to medium, hard etc. You can get to expert if you play say like 7 hours a week for 2 months.

well, practicing GHIII 7 hours a week isnt as easy as it sound, because I rather play real guitars 3-4 hours a day

But hey, managed to play the song I´ve mentioned above in expert already (well 87%) Go me

Yeah, i love the game, i actually was very skeptical of it at first because i'v played a 6 string for over 6 years now, however, turns out to be very fun, and knowing how to play guitar, does help you in guitar hero with the reaching aspect and a bit to do with corrordinating, because i can play over twice as good as my friend who plays drums, and he owns the game, wehre as i would, but my 360 broke, :'(... Im at the level where i can play through the fire and flames 80% on hard, and about 68% on expert.

Yo man, don't judge the game until you try it, i did the same, thought it was FKN horrible, but turns out, quite an amazing little game. Try it, you'll be glad you did.

Turn the difficulty up, that should work. On easy/medium the lights don't seem to match up because they're moving too slow imo. Putting it on hard or expert works a charm

I'm currently playing through the game on hard. Awesome fun!

I think being able to play a real instrument works against you with that game.

I kept trying to play in time with the music - no.. no.. that doesn't work.

The only way i can make it through a whole song is to turn the volume off.
It becomes a simple game of "match the color coded lights" then.

It would be nice if someone could come up with an algortihm to tear apart a song and come up with the buttons. Probably a bit too difficult.

Or if you could feed it guitar tabs and it would derive it from that. This would be much easier, although the tabs would have to be of some standard format.
