For those of you who hated getting raped at your UCB, you probably liked the aspect of the Point of Existence mod that depleted your health if you hung around an enemy's UCB for too long. I was just curious how everyone would feel about a similar feature in BF3. Personally, I would not like it. If you don't like getting spawnkilled, spawn somewhere else. If you've got nowhere else to spawn, you should have capped more flags.

Should BF3 have a health-depleting no go zone around the UCB like POE?

I 'gree with you.
I don't like the feature in PoE2 either. Ruins the potential to nick enemy shit.

Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
Yeah just look where POE is now...
The US economy is a giant Ponzi scheme. And 'to big to fail' is code speak for 'niahnahniahniahnah 99 percenters'
i don't think it would work.take Ghost Town on BF2 for example.many servers will say you can't attack uncaps, then the players will grab the Linebacker/Tunguska and bring it back into their uncap, keeping the helis confined to about a third of the map with no way to combat it.

1. UCB's far away from other flags - to prevent AA whoring from them.
2. Assets on 1st closest to UCB capturable flag - to make their destruction possible.
then no-go zone will work fine

How about you make UCBs a fucking base, not a crate and some vehicle spawns. I'm talking walls, bunkers, manable turrets, underground tunnels or building complexes.

I don't like the concept of UCBs in the first place, though. The only thing a UCB does is make sure that if one team is absolutely obliterating the other, they can keep obliterating them until tickets/time runs out. Make all points open to capping, and make the base points pretty much impenetrable with fair teams.

no.
I love baserape.
I love baserape.

I dislike baserape: it ruins the gameplay experience for the spawning team. So I would agree with this. I just leave the server if someone's baseraping... Don't have the patience for it.

Yes please, cept for Spec Ops. Then admins don't have to police the uncap invaders.
if your team sucks so bad that you only have one base left then you deserve too get raped
All it is force people to wait outside enemy bases while the other team circle-jerks as they know they get killed if they try to attack. Also if your team is so shitty that they are driven back into their UCB then they deserve to be raped. Also if you cannot go into the UCB how are you supposed to destroy artilary?
Best idea. Make the UCB capturable, but make it very reinforced. I highly doubt any military would leave their entire airfield (I'm looking at you, Oman's MEC) so open.Sarrk wrote:

And if there are carriers again - make those defense missiles DEADLY and ACCURATE. Any idiot in BF2 can baserape the carrier with a J-10. People should be scared of attacking the carrier with an aircraft.
Good idea, however these defense structures should be destroyable so a particularly crappy team can still get punished for being so shitty.Hurricane wrote:

Automate the carrier defenses, or, like Hurricane said, make them a hell of a lot better.
No BF3 should be realistic Like PR is I mean like getting shot with a .50 sniper should be 1 shot kill no revival. Not all of this n00b ness that vBF2 has
Imagine a map without UCB's. That would be kind of fun.

Assets are lodged in UCB's, and there are maps where only one team has a UCB (assuming that the same can be said for BF3), so NO. As a matter of fact, the kill zones outside the area have turned people off of the game, so double-NO.

As long as its a server-side option, then fine. It shouldnt be a mandatory thing for the entire game on every map. Where would commander assets go?
It should be up to the servers to decide and then people will be forced to start reading the rules.

double damage if in a vehicle and half for sf
To clarify: health-depleting zones should take form in automated anti-air, MG nests and minefields; not invisible assassins sitting in the back of your truck or whatever waiting to inject you with slow-death toxins with a counter-drug ready to activate in case you return to the battlefield proper. I like the fundamentals of the idea for the sake of keeping a server with limited players in a reasonably compact zone; just not Battlefield 2's method of doing so. Besides which, it makes it really hard to get people interested in the game when they're flying around and die for no apparent reason.
