Yesterday, I was at Best Buy picking up a new monitor when I decided to pick up 2142 as well. I played it last night and this morning...And I really suck at it. Anyway, I just thought I might share my behind-the-time news.

I just have a special hatred for a game that wastes $70, and can't be returned/traded because the Key only works for one login (if that )

I noticed that, and that blows.
One small tip - never go prone in CQB ( like in BF2 ). It doesnt work. Always crounch or keep strafing.

Try NS booster pack. It actually brought me back when I was bored. All 3 maps are brilliant, and assault lines mode with little deadly speeder and huge heavily armoured Goliaph is something new.
This game is pretty much easier then BF2 how can you get pwned on it?
I know, I can't get enough. I've been on FullContactWar server (new favorite by the way) that rotates only NS maps and I can't friggin' stop playing. Well if your into Infantry just go to any city-map server you could try to avoid Fall of Berlin though it tends to be a rape festival with the EU APC.
Cerbere and Tunis are the best imo.
Assault is the way to go Defibs and Rockets and you can take on anything, When it comes to weapons it´s all about what you prefer all 4 assault rifles are great in their own way. Pick up the kits of your fallen comrades/enemies and see if there´s something you like.
Beside the assault tree, I would say engineer is the second most important tree i could´nt stand playing Engy without the lollermines or Pilum for that matter. As Sniper is close to useless without the extra zoom unlock. ( But who wants to play a sniper anyway )

i agree except for the sniper tree. For point and k/d ratio assault is best way to go. Engineer need the mines and pilum and then any vehicle on map cna be taken down easily. Supports shotugn owns now its super fast and can 1-2 hit people at close to middle range. I personally only play recon now though caus ei enjoy it most. Lambert + rdx + apm = winmadmurre wrote:

I think that Leipzig and Belgrade are the best maps as they flawlessly combine infantry and vehicles. My least favorite maps are Berlin and Gibraltar as they are so linear and so small that every round there is a stalemate where neither side can advance and what ends up happening is pretty much everyone save the four people who secure armored vehicles only get one kill before they die.

Belgrade is a fun map to play on, the only problem is that all the buildings in it are almost exactly the same...which gets really annoying
first theres those infantry buildings, where theres 3 staircases and a big tunnel in the middle, then theres the regular skyscraper buildings with the sides and then theres the random blown up building, which is a snipers hideout
i like how they protect you from the utter devestation of the vehicles, but they could of added a bit more varaity to it? right?

Well on BF2 I could get a k.d ratio of 3 as infantry easily (don't have the game anymore due to cd breaking ) but on 2142 instead of proning like in BF2 you just crouch and people pretty much die in 2 shots and you can use pretty much use any gun as assault and when support if your on maps like camp Gibraltar or cebere landing (infantry maps) use the shotgun for close combat action. Be assualt to that way you can reheal yourself and get loads of points to get unlocks such as the Voss unlock tree in order to get better more or less.
