Graphical improvements a key focus, and the sequel moves beyond aliens and Korean soldiers... ?

First details on Crysis 2 have found their way onto the internet in the wake of Crytek boss Cevat Yerli explaining the FPS has been designed as a trilogy.

According to a report on fansite inCrysis - via GameStar.de - Crytek lead animator Steven Bender has let slip that the developer will focus even greater attention on graphics for the sequel, a translation from German explaining, "Their ambitious aim is to push the game's visuals to an advanced level, that could be considered near photorealistic movie quality."

A tiny plot detail is additionally given - that the sequel will concentrate on more than battles with aliens and Korean military. Which, you probably would have guessed at anyway.

And that's your lot for now...

lulz, they're focusing on improving graphics when Crysis can barely run now. We'll just start to be able to play Crysis when Crysis 2 comes out.

This is bullshit. Why not make one good game instead of forcing people to shell out $150 for a trilogy! Game companies these days...

Because they know schmucks will buy them.

I bought Crysis and thought it pretty much sucked compared to other new games.  All that hype and outside of the graphics it wasn't that good at all.

Let's see them improve the game/plot/physics/everything else before making it prettier.

I have a pritty top end system and it still strugles on high with AA.
Keep the graphics as they are and improve on other things. imo

You guys, I don't know whats up with you lol, but I made this thread just below yours: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=84919
Because you're probably too lazy to read: It's a config file, that sets the crysis settings somehow to very high, but in a custom way, with 40-60 fps on my system!!

imo they should focus on optimization, then graphics. And patch the hell out of Crysis 1 with some nasty optimization goodness before they start going, "...near photorealistic movie quality." all over Crysis 2's ass.

Hopefully the multiplayer will be a bit more satisfying and a bit less laggy. Fix multiplayer crytek!

I actually like how crytek is pushing the envelope in graphics while many other games recycle their old engines over and over again i.e. cod2 - cod4. So what if you cant run it on max settings with 20x aa when it comes out it still looks better then anything else on the market on the lower settings. This engine is probubly one of the best engines ive seen so far. Graphics are amazing, physics are amazing, in addition to all the other stuff. Remember when games like Doom 3 and Far Cry came out and most people whinned about not being to max them out well big deal you can wait for the GPU technology to catch up and it makes you appreciate the work, beauty and complexity behind the engine even more.

And no incentive to play for gameplay.  And I thought COD 2's engine wasn't the same one as COD 4.  If it was, well, it somehow ran 30 fps faster the second time round.

Personally, I think the physics suck too.  No assault rifle can cut through a tree in 4 bullets.

No you'r not, I am in love with the demo and I am going to buy the game soon...

What i can't understand is all this whine about bad gameplay and so on?
The weapons, the world and your movement feels so awesomely smooth and realistic,,,

The weapons alone make you feel like they really weigh something and that they are actual 3D models in your hand, not just some 2D stiff'ish feel like in CS and COD4......

And the ability to customize everything on your weapons is so ****ing awesome! on of the very best gameplay features of crysis along with the Nanosuit.....

I know the multiplayer is kind of a let-down, but tbh is not THAT bad (i played the MP beta)...

Gameplay is about plot, character development, "immersion" and that sort of thing.  Granted, the graphics help immersion, but they could have hired a better script writer.

If you say so.

Half Life 2 still has no weapon tweaking, the wort linearity of many games and mildly stupid AI at best.
