Sniping in this is aids, the bolt action is good, but the semiautos are just WTF, sometimes ill just bust out with amazing prawn, other times its impossible to hit a person last standing 1 meter in front of you, with iron lungs and the crosshair completely covering him. After that episode i pretty much just gave up on semi autos. I unlocked the ACOG on the M21 and that was just pointless.


besides, M16 is more accurate than sniper rifles anyway.

yeah i LOOOVE sniping. Me and my freind snipe together and we own, but i was wondering if i should change overkill with UAV jammer. Overkill lets me get to places whith out beeing scared of a little close combat but if the enemy gets UAV i am a dead man. But a nother verson is if i use claymores i will kill people if the try to kill me but they can blow them upp and it is no point if they have bomb squad perk.
please answer me i realy need help with this one.

I've not bothered with sniping, SMGs are way too much fun.

Something I have noticed though is snipers almost never kill me and they usually seem to get unimpressive scores. I don't remember the last time I saw a sniper getting the top score on a server. Back in COD 2 most servers restricted the numbers of snipers as they were so unfairly powerful and snipers usually ended up top on each team.

Are all the snipers just being rubbish at the moment?

I normally loved sniping in FPS and it was probably my favourite class in 'Delta Force: Black Hawk Down' and 'BF2'.

I don't think CoD4 is very sniper friendly though, thats probably why you rarely see a sniper finishing top.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Ty: I like the crosshair sway. That, along with the fraction of a second it takes to zoom in, prevents the average "noob" from easily getting kills.

I'm using Stopping Power for that perk, since body shots seem to be one hit kills occasionally.

I was thinking of using UAV Jammer though.

It'd be handy if I was playing as a more defensive/stealthy sniper.

i think i will have UAV jammer because to be a pro sniper it is the head shot you must get if you shoot him in the leg or something like that (every where around the head) and he survives you only waste you ammo.

But if you're going to be in the front lines with the infantry, you might as well switch UAV Jammer with Stopping Power.

the only map i snipe on is Crossfire. i have a spot that is so ftw i wet my pants every time i play. first time i ever played a whole round with a sniper rifle was when i got the barret on Crossfire. ended the round 67-6 and the only reason i died was cuz i kept running out of ammo.

o and the hitreg is fucking retarded most of the times. hell i would of had 80+ kills if it registered properly

man i thought i was just bad or had to hold the rifle more still before i read some of these posts. there were sooo many times where i had the crosshairs completely still on someones head and it didn't hit. i missed like 3 shots so i was like fuck i'll aim at this guys chest since it's so big, and still a miss. wtf! i hope it gets fixed

I'm going for the golden SVD at the moment, so far I have 100% in Barrett, M40 and almost M21 headshots, I'm getting there

Btw. I put an ACOG on the M21 and compared with M14 with ACOG, and the M21 is better in every way except for ammo capacity, more accurate, less recoil and more damage :p


And juggernauts are so gay when you are sniping. If they haven't been damaged already they survive Barrett .50 headshots ffs! Their skull should be in million tiny bits around the whole map, which would make them DEAD. Stupid juggernoob.

...but then I unlocked the R700 (and shortly afterwards the Barrett) so now I'm loving getting all my Expert challenges for sniper rifles

just think of it as having random deviation like BF2, when you scope it only goes down a bit. As you hold your breath the cone gets smaller and smaller. If you watch the scope it will settle for about 2 heartbeats and then be still.

You just have to wait about 2 heartbeats and fire once the cross hair is perfectly stationary. Sniping is particularly fun on hardcore servers, R700 primary with red dot M4 secondary.


I'm starting to get more kills with it now and I actually really like the sniper system.

You cant compare the deviation to BF2, COD4s mind numbing coding just defies logic, but only with sniper, and specifically semiautos. It seems as long as your crosshair is on them, your going to miss, but if its nowhere near them your gonna raep.

not really....the sway of the crosshair roughly shows you the size of the cone of fire, but the cross hair isn't where the bullets gonna go it will just be randomly within that cone.

So as you hold you breath that cone gets smaller and you don't miss. Its possible to hit you mark just about every time as long as you get your self set up right.
