Hello People New to forums,

Just wondered everyone posts some fantastic rigs and I'm looking to upgrade mine soon because it's nearly 3 years old

Got an AMD 2400
512MB DDR333
GFFX 5600 128mb DDR
And a NForce 2 Mobo

All I've done is installed AV and few games all I use it for

As a basic thing I disabled all unessary services in XP and got me Windows running at 70MB of Memory on startup with nothing running

Have virtually all settings on low in 8x6 res but it still can be a bit jerky sometimes in games which can cause bullets to hit me but mine to hit nothing

Just wondered for the people out there running the lower machines what tips you do to make it run better

Kind Regards,

hehe, Actually, Ive seen worse running Battlefield.  One of my clansmen runs with a:

1.8 GHz AMD
VIA chipset
Radeon 8500
512 MB Ram
--AND--
It overheats, so he has to leave the side off the case.

Memeory, Memory and Memory.

The VP of IT, who got me addicted to this game, told me the game needed 1 gig of RAM to run smoothly. Let me repeat, "the game needs 1 gig". That means your machine should be setup for 1.5 gig. It will run on less memory but at a degraded state. If your mobo will handle 1.5 gig, this is probably the most important upgrade you can make.

OK dude sounds like your system isnt too bad.

Here is my advice:
Get another 1/2 gig of memory, and a 6600GT video card

I think you will find the improvement in performance rather pleasent
