The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

2. Yes, because the HR-03 takes so much space, only way for me to have a sound card at all
3. Temporary placement until I get my external housing fixed.

That's what SHE said!
With all those fans, it would help to get the cables in order...
Wouldn't change a thing. No wires are blocking any fans, except for the front intake one, which barely does anything, since I have my side open.Defiance wrote:

Oh, in the case that the side panel is off and there's no proper airflow, then it wouldn't make a difference.Sydney wrote:

I can't run my PC with the side on. It would overheat epicly.Defiance wrote:

Dual GPUs folding 24/7 generates a LOT of heat.
My dual 8800GTs do that just fine.Sydney wrote:

Maybe if you sorted out the case airflow...Sydney wrote:

Negative, heat gets trapped between the GPUs and can't get out. The HR-03 doesn't blow heat outside.Defiance wrote:

And Freezer, my 8800GTX generates as much heat as 5 puny 8800GTs
No it doesn't.... now that I remember, gotta go ship my 8800GTX XT away...

As for my 8800GTs, one is passive, one has a minimal fan. Neither can really match the coolers of your cards.

My case is so hot because of the fans, the hr-03 incrases ambient if I can't extract it out of the caseFreezer7Pro wrote:

If you cant get enough air through to keep the ambient down you need a better case... If taking the side off lowers temps your airflow is terrible.Sydney wrote:

The thing is, the air is trapped, sandwiched between the two cards if I don't have it open. Temps on my video cards skyrocketed until I installed those two 120mm fans on the side.TheEternalPessimist wrote:

Temps are all perfectly fine as they are right now, so I'm happy.
So I finally got around to taking pics of everything.

Nice rigs, max.
What's the case on that temp HTPC? Looks nice.

Load temps are 30°C on the CPU, 35°C on the GPU. Everything else also stays cool. Those 6 fans on the rad create a lot of airflow while keeping the PC whisper quiet
