To be fair, you'd have to be a fucking moron to buy RAM at Apple's prices. So hopefully he's going to be popping out to his local PC store, and filling that bad boy up to the max.

That's a lot of voltage: CPU-z or BIOS setting?

FSB termination, PLL, ... settings?

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

apple RAMs are so expensive, i'm trying to save up the money to upgrade it more.
A new gfx card, some more rams and install 64bit os.

I know you can't order from newegg but it doesn't seem so bad. No one is forcing you to buy apple branded ram

It's not a bad deal, but Apple don't sell their RAM at that price. A RAM upgrade on their site will cost you 4 times what their RAM sells for aftermarket. It's a good idea what he's done. Bought the computer like that, but with the cheapest possible easily upgradable parts. Same goes for the GPU as the RAM. He'll save himself a fortune.

I know but i'm not sure if my mac os x leopard supports 64 bit, i think so but i don't know if i have to install a brand new one or not.
And the same for windows, i have to install 64 bit but now i might as well install vista.

If I would spend several thousands on an octo-core system I would have spend another 150$ for extra ram

Sure, me too. But I'm not an idiot, so I wouldn't buy that RAM from Apple.

EDIT: Fucking LOL, I didn't realise it was as bad as it is. If I wanted to buy 8 gigs (4*2Gb) of RAM for my MacPro from Apple UK, guess how much the thieving bastards would charge me?

940GBP!!!

(apart from the fact that I wouldn't buy a mac pro anyways)

I'd also not get the ram from apple. No one is stopping my from buying normal ram at some webshop and installing it myself

I bought the Macpro since i've been using Macs even before Intel.
I did built my own pc rig, AMD 3500+, 2GB RAM and Ati X1900 256mb i think or maybe not, but i just couldn't get along with crashes, freezes, viruses and others.
I looked for a decent pc with the same or similar specs as the macpro, but i just couldn't go back to windows as the main os.
I got used to Mac os, and i know its fucking expensive but, don't really care, i'm glad to spend my money on something i really like.

If you want to spend all that money, more power to you. I just have to say that if you spend all that money, another 150$ really shouldn't stop you from getting the best from your components. If you've built your own PC a little ram upgrade will be easy.

Macs are just not a good choice for me and the other users of this site. Too expensive and limiting.

And issues with viruses are most oftenly the users fault tbh.. a little common sence and scanning of downloaded files will keep allmost everything away..

In the 3 years I had my craptop at school which got used for all sorts of things, I only once had an attack that I discovered by scanning a .rar with Avast

I had norton, CC cleaner, and three other good/recommended anti virus programs running and somehow 3 viruses got in and didn't want to leave.

Protip: Running more than 1 anti virus is in most cases worse than running no anti virus -.-
your 3 viruses were most likely the other anti-virus programs beeing detected.. and AVG tends to detect every single .exe file as a virus

Also: Norton fucking sucks

CCleaner is for clearing temp folders and cookies, not for deleting viruses..

Ad-Aware removes spyware

Spybot S&D also removes spyware

Truth. Running multiple AV apps can give you a lot of false positives
