-it owns
-dogfighting is 100x better* than in vanilla BF2. Jets have dumbfire missles: extremely fast missles that are unguided. they take skill to use and are insanely good at taking down choppers (a little too good, imo)

-the maps are atmospheric, look the part, and play well
-guns are very accurate, but have high recoil (which you can control.) so infantry is less luck more skill
-arty is manually fired, and is rather spiffy.
-there is a variety of vehicles: imagine F-15, A-10, and an F18 at once.
-AA is insanely strong, but they are also dumbfire missles. Just very fast ones. Thus, AA takes skill, and it is rewarded
-the height ceiling for jets is way higher: I haven't tested it yet, but I was flying problem free at an altitude of 1500 just now. (this makes it possible to do long range attacks on flags, thus avoiding AA.)
-the choppers are great: littlebirds of several kinds, very maneauverable apaches, blackhawk with forward-facing guns, etc.

I've really just been jet whoring non stop but it seems that Dcon is beating vanilla BF2 in every way.

Dont forget Outskirts of Mozul. The steep hillside battles with all the small houses are brilliantly done imo.

Plus what Sarge mentioned. All the vehicles feel different from Vanilla and you need to work them more to use them to full effect.

Plus the Spectre Gunship is awesome

yea chopper flight is "closer" to what it was in DC but since bf2's engine already included choppers, they did good. it kinda lagged for me, but i was on an uber full server. but i shall play it much

You can connect to servers again, even Vanilla. That was just a temporary downtime on the GameSpy account servers.

Dcon is awesome. Loved the original and this one tweaked for BF2 is just plain fun. It actually pulled me away from 2142.

I never liked Desert Combat much - I didnt ran well on my previous PC (then again, 1942 wasn't smooth either) ...but havent tried the BF 2 version of it - I do enjoy it more. I'm just having a hard time adjusting to the new weapon stats (as in, same weapons, different accuracy/damage etc)

It also has a contollable SCUD launcher,a massive plane with mininguns and cannons on the side..Hercules?Not sure of name never got to kill anyone with it.

I tested it and AFAIK its 3000 (atleast in a mig). Then it starts to go out of control, but is much easier to get out of than BF2, because planes slow down so quickly in DCon.
