this is a case in point NPR is taxpayer funded. Every show has a left wing slant even the Oscars or a sitcom. All the actors in them. If your dont tow their line you cant work in hollywood. FACT.

Only the biggest most entrenched stars who are set for life 5 times over can admit they might not be liberals.

I see where you're coming from. I think I tend to fall slightly left of right. Frustrating at times, because like you, I find myself taking opposing sides on more than a few issues. I disagree with most of the decisions President Bush has made, however, he is my commander in chief, and I will respect the office and the process that put him there.
I think it is my priviledge as an American to disagree and to level criticism at my own country and it's leaders. I consider myself fortunate to have an appropriate, timely outlet for that criticism. I find myself at odds with the left because of the format that democrats have taken in criticizing the administration. I think too often it's disrespectful, counter-productive, and poorly thought-out. I happen to believe that one can have a healthy disregard for one mans proposal without stooping to personal insults, something both sides are guilty of.
I think our media is a business like any other, first and foremost. The major networks will give airtime to any opinion and any event that will guarantee the most viewers. They will slant in any direction most beneficial to their ratings, some days that will be left, others that will be right. Overall Americans are too comfortable to have their beliefs questioned, too set in their opinions to be disuaded on way or the other, and all too eager to be re-affirmed in their beliefs. That is why some will cry that fox news is blatantly right and others will whine that it is left.... pardon the ramplings lol

i can't stand to listen to limbough for more than a few seconds, i had to for some time at a previous job, and i hated every moment of it. I think he's a self-righteous dick. But he is an OPINION radio talk show, and doesn't market himself as anything else. As such I have more respect for him than for a news station that claims to be "fair and balanced".

In most cases, rather than look at an argument at face value we consider our own pre-conceived notions of what is right or wrong to be right. Hence I believe that when you say all news has a left wing bias you show your pre-existing right-wing mindset, and the same is true vice versa. Do you have to be a liberal to make it in hollywood? Is that a fact? i dont know,... never auditioned for a movie. All i see is a handful of rich actors voicing their over-hyped opinions. I don't give two shits worth what George Clooney wears, dates, or re-marries, why should i lend any more credibility to his political views. On the other hand, it hollywood the deamon every right winger says it is? I sincerely doubt it. I would more readily believe that "left wing" is "in" because it draws the most attention.

like i implied earlier, not neutral, but everyones whore. the media will always spin the story, one way or the other, right or left, whichever guarantees them the highest viewer turnout. when the war on terror was popular with the people it was hyped and praised in the mainstream media, now that the war is growing less and less popular, the media is criticizing it. don't tell me the average joe wants to sit down and watch the news so he can stretch his mind. he gets what he's looking for from CNN, FOX, you name it, it's entertaiment, and his own opinion regurgitated to him by someone else that's supposedly credible. the media is only as neutral as any successful business is. to the minority opinion, pro or con, the media will be right or left, depending on the week you choose to watch.

lol i see i see,... and i would add that my own opinion is constantly changing as i feel it is safe to add and consider new insights... for the most part i am comfortable with the realization that i will never get the whole story from anyone. It makes more sense to me to apply what i consider to be the basic rules of human nature to any given situation, helps me sift through the bullshit.

The media swings both ways. It depends on where you get your news. TV stations/publications (newspapers and some magazine) are usally more Liberal, execpt Fox NewsChannel, and radio stations are more Right-winged (they play a lot of the Dean Howard rant. You know the one where he is like next we are going to take this state then that state, etc.). In order to get an actual fair and balanced news you should get the information from more then one source.

and yet they can only come up with one Conservative Station ( Fox )

and most conservative don't Feel Fox is "Right wing". Its jet not "left wing" like the 300 other Media sources.

Well there ya go!!...there are some shows out there to listen to. Of course I have heard of Alan Colmes, but ONLY as the second banana to the Hannity and Colmes show...I had no idea he had his own program as hannity does...So now my question is why? Is it that I am too far to the right and refuse to see what is in front of my eyes, or is left wing talk shows simply too obscure to be noticed?
