Warzone 2100 is a 3D real-time strategy game that was released in 1999. It's source code was liberated in december 2004. Development has picked up from the original source code to make it cross-platform and, in the end, better.

Yeah, they have been updated it, but the graphics are not to something you might by now .. but it runs smooth (has lights,fog,etc.,d3d and opengl) ... and the tech tree has been expanded ever further. Realistically you would never research anything in a real game. If you sat playing easy it would take you over an hour to research everything.Vilham wrote:

I loved the C&C games, but I agree with you Warcraft series is the best. Everyone who never played it, get WC3 now, the singleplayer story is amazing and the online mode provides more fun than any other RTS game ever.Vilham wrote:

I agree. Personnaly I null voted because I havent played all of the games in the poll. But Ive played C&C, AOE, Starcraft, Rise of nations and a bit of warcraft and I know that Aoe and Starcraft are better than C&C. For example, in starcraft, everything is well balanced while having 3 races very different. You can win by multiple ways, not like C&C where you only add to build 25 tanks and rush the ennemy base to win the game. Thats what the C&C series is all about, building the largest tank army possible then send them in their base and make them attack in group... No deep tactic in this game, or not more than in StarCraft.Vilham wrote:

i am quite awara of the difference between RTS and turn based. I dont like RTS. total war series has both. but yeah, sid meiers colonization was a turn based game, I was thinking about how much i dislike RTS and forgot to add that part. Colonization is a very old game, look it up. itys a blast and best strategy game i have every played, turn based or not. Ive been playing computer strategy games for at least 12 years now, the whole reason why im into gaming. Lord of the Realms was a good one. Sierra put out a lot of great games in the early 90's. Microprose was a good company that put good strategy games too.Vilham wrote:
