I have been seeing a bunch of new players with [bf2s] tags on the server recently and will probably continue to see this judging by what we've seen of server traffic lately.

I realize that it can sometimes be intimidating for the new guys to speak up on the subforum when they feel like they don't know anybody yet so I've created this thread where you can just drop by and say hi, chat, introduce yourself or anything else. Also, in this way we'll take notice of you and next time we see you on the server we'll recognize you, and throw rose petals your way.

In honor of one of our iconic former member Lt.Goldman (currently whipped by his new non-midget GF), I am naming this the "Maggots Thread".

edit:

the reason we have maggots is because:
1) some people will come into our community, spend a couple of weeks and then disappear never to be seen again. we make an effort to integrate those who are regulars so we want to make sure that you're sticking around.
2) we want to make sure that you represent us well --> in other words we are looking for people who really believe in our motto of "Fun, Teamwork and Maturity". we don't care about 1337 skills in our little community.
3) cause if there wasn't a little bit of hazing/initiation then it wouldn't be as much fun

things to do if you want to evolve beyond maggot squad:
1) join TS
2) post on the EU subforum
3) get to know the regulars
4) contribute to our community
5) demonstrate proper teamwork skills on the server.

Right since it was a long time ago I introduced myself and I don't get to play much I thought I'd do it again for 2142. Here goes

Real name: Gary Verschoor
Name In-Game: gvers
Favorite Kit: Don't now yet. Have to try them all.
From: London UK
Age: 40 (anyone beat that?)
Occupation: AS400 programmer and network admin.

Mostly get to play late at night (wife and kids) and with the UK being 1 hour behind don't see most of you on the server. Have team speak and Mic (must use Mic at some point). Had some great rounds on BF2 EU server and hoping to continue with 2142.

Ive been on forums for a while, altho never on EU server. Played BF2 on german server.
Im from Bosnia (only bosnian on BF2s) but currently living in Vienna, Austria.
Engineer on vehicle maps and Assault on city maps.

Ive played few times on the server already, even got my good counduct ribbon yesterday on Gibraltar

I have played some on the Bf2s server and will prolly continue doing so but i don´t think i will wear the BF2s tag It makes you a bigger target i know for myself that i tend to draw the knife rather then trying to shoot someone in the face if i see someone wearing the tag.

Gotta stop working graveyard shifts i keep posting meanless posts to kill the time :S

@madmurre, there are downsides to not wearing the tag though. If you are on the server and not wearing it, then the people wearing it might not know that you are from the forum and not invite you to squads or even kick you from their squad. Also, you might end up getting kicked from the server if we need to kick someone to make room for an admin or someone who is on TS and wants on the server.

The tag identifies that you are one of us, and we will look after 'us' first and foremost.

@majorassult - alterting the tag is not something we do. It is one tag, one community, wearing a slightly altered tag means that you are not in our community. It may not mean anything to you, but to us this is the way we have been playing for well over a year. Even though we are not a clan (so we do not enforce everything), we would still like people who wear out tag to wear the correct tag. Also join TS and then you can benefit from that. You were in our squad last night which was cool, but it helps when we can shout at you via TS !

Ive been playing with you guys on the server the last few nights as St0ned_Ranger because i didnt reserve my BF2 name Recoil555 . The servers really fun even though i get owned constantly by people i wont mention ;p i like a challange heh.

I been on the forum awhile but i wasnt sure the requirement of wearing bf2s tags i know your not a clan just a community but i wasnt sure whether it was just to be on the forums or just to play on the server but ill put em on next time, only just got 2142 a few days ago anyway ;p lovin it tho so far.
