arrrrrghghghghhghghhh .....

Microsoft XP Pro Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon 64 processor
3200+
2.01 Ghz  2 gig ram
Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT

Nostromo n50 Speedpad   game controller

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

So.. ....  my basic Compaq mouse [ball variety]  starts to wear out.

Get jump on guys in BF2 + gun will not fire.  Sticks / locks up etc.  Attempt to clean mouse but keeps happening.

* Cue - Tragedy

Purchase a Microsoft mouse.  Install Intellipoint software.

Log in to BF2.  Notice that right click on mouse will not work.      [use for alt fire in controller settings]

- back + forth attempt to adjust settings.  No dice.
Peculiar since Mouse will right click in Windows but not in program.  Try connection from both mouse port + USB.  Same trouble.

Return Microsoft Mouse to store.

Purchase Logitech LX5 optical mouse.
Remove Intellipoint software.  Install Setpoint software.

See above.  No dice again.  Same situation.

Think to self that perhaps proprietary settings have gotten fuXored ?

Buy basic Microsoft optical mouse.  Cheap no frills.

Same issue.

+

Delete BF2 + Special forces off system.
Complete re-install.
Patch up to 1.4.

No right click in game.

Talked to friend.  He suggested tips.  Button to left of Ctrl [  right click ]  on computer does not function in BF2 either.

Removed Nostromo game pad drivers + software.  Re-install.

Still no RIGHT CLICK.

Frustrated.
Severe hassle to not have this capability.

Please help if you have any ideas.  Thanks in advance !

Have you tried without drivers? Probably doesn't affect anything, but you can always try
liquidat0r

Did you remove profiles when you uninstalled?

If not then just delete the appropriate profile, probably 001, from: C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles

Thx for quick replies guys.. ...

* to tupla

this morning I attempted to update mouse drivers
but they are up to snuff.

maybe give it a shot ? !

* to liquidator

No I did not remove profiles under re-install.

Would I be able to restore my current account if I did ?
Just have to create account + locate my current one ?

Forgot to mention that I did log in   with   the Off-line account + still was unable to get right click to register.

Would that still be connected to my profile ?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

by way I've also run CC cleaner in case something got peculiar in Registry
Also Webroot Spy Sweeper + AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 to be on safe side.

Thanks in advance !

Just remove the "controls.con" from C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\My documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001

If you remove the whole folder you can retrieve your account from BF2

Deleted controls.con out of Profile 0001.

Reboot -  Still no dice.

Then -

Deleted controls.con out of Profile 0002.

Reboot.

Still no luck.

Quite an odd glitch to only affect this one function.

Made think perhaps hardware related yet only seems to cripple BF2 control.

Friend recommended downloading some other game just to see if right click will work in something else.
Have not had chance so far.

Wow this one has me stumped, I have run both mouses (Or mices ) with no problems.  You google it yet?  Gotta be someone else who has had this problem.

Keep working it, you will figure it out.

Best of luck

G15 is keyboard I guess you mean G5 and I doubt it's the mouse if he has the same problem with two different mouses

Actually it is 3 different mouses that have tried.. .... ..

Still have Logitech LX5
I can try again with + muck about in Setpoint settings.

Latest update -

Downloaded Fear SP demo.. ...... no right click capability in that game either.

so Right click in Windows but not inside BF2.

* yep  I've hunted through forums here + couple other sites.

Saw on Logitech an advanced mouse proggie if have MouseAware above certain version.
Would not allow install.

Know that could possibly select different button under control settings. ..... Would be drag if play sniper + have to reach across every time wanna zoom. .. ...  et cetera.

I still have to get my Nostromo n50 re-configured with system.  Should have left that alone in my quest.

Thanks again for all suggestions + if think of any other ideas please let know.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Removed NVidia drivers.
Ran Driver Cleaner Pro.
Installed new / latest Nvidia drivers.

Make it left handed from windows mouse settings and see if the problem moves to the left button or if it's still on the right

I switched primary buttons under control panel like you mentioned +

the problem does indeed move to Left button.

Does that give any new ideas ?

Tech friend is coming over in hour to help investigate.

Thanks !

yeehaw !

problem SOLVED !

msconfig

Tech friend discovered that I had too many programs running at start up.

EA downloader, NVidia, etc

After shutting down various services - FIXED

left right click to hearts content.

Thank you everyone that responded + helped troubleshoot.

Tragedy continues.. ...... [ack - ha!]

Well. ....

Next day blues.
Whatever changes friend helped with
under msconfig + shutting down start up services did not stay permanent.

Spent several hours to shut on + off various components under system configuration.
Reboot after each test.

Still not successful.

nvidia driver conflict ?

Unsure what is interfering with mouse function.

If can get working at least once more I can save System Restore at that point.

So .. ...

If anyone is still watching this thread - appreciate suggestions still.

Thanks in advance !

Basically, buy a G5.

Either you will be so awestruck by its amazingness that you won't care when right click doesn't work, or
You will be so transfixed by its precision you'll forget you're playing a game at all.

Best of luck.

As a last resort, re-install your operating system. Easy to do if you have the disc.
It sounds a drastic measure I know, but it would have been quicker in the long run considering the trouble you've had and I'm pretty damn sure it will solve your problem.

- Deadman

Guess I've gotten to that point in game.

Ran Hijack this to display registry bugaboos.
Deleted unnecessary ones without success.

Got OS re-installing now.

Noticed you have Nostromo.  Did you try turning that off and see if your mouse works correctly?

well... ...

Haven't given shot yet today but

complete re-install of Windows XP Pro.

Complete re-install of BF2 + SF + 1.4 full patch.

Possible new problem -   EA Downloader [Link]   says for EF + AF that 'Ready to play'
but does not allow download [?!]

Hrmm.m.m....     Deal with that later.

Downloaded latest Nvidia beta driver 10/26/06.  Installed.

Took off for work.

- Lemonchicken - yeah .. ... before complete re-install tried removing Nostromo drivers + re-installing [etc]

Did have working previously with mouse so not sure if problem came into play because installed
Intellipoint software ?

All I can say is that you have a mess in your computer man. Have you checked the mouse settings in control panel? Also, give a look under devices in system (in control panel). I dont ever install drivers for any plug & play devices because windows is shit and sometimes ruins everything.

hey .. ..yeah tell me about it.
I've mucked about in control panel mouse settings etc so much my head is spinning.

Latest update :
Attempt to play BF2.

Right click not functioning.  Alright - this is after complete system install + only Nvidia drivers.

Remove Nvidia 10/26/06 drivers.  Install earlier Nvidia 10/14/06 drivers for Geforce card.

Same issue but -  wait for it

Now -   no  @#!!#@$%^!#$ sound.
Does not detect audio device ?

Ok.. ....... how long before shoot my computer + buy new one ?
