And how do you Really spell Bare arms ?
To keep weapons in your house. I Dont think you every joe should have a M16 but I think everyone should be able to have shotguns, and handguns. I think military personell should be allowed assualt weapons but thats it.
I am going to start a seperate thread with the topic "Own a gun? Post here."
Sorry to hi-jack your thread.

Well, thank God you do not have the final say on this issue. Already we have given in on this by saying OK just Automatic weapons for people with a lic. They meant just what it says we as citizens have the right to keep and bare firearms. Thank god for the NRA. As soon as they take or try to take one weapon then all will someday be taken just like in other countries. The right is mine and all Americans and I hope it remains that way. SUPPORT NRA!!!!
It's not "bare arms" it's "bear arms". I'm not about to expand on that, we could be here all month discussing what our forefathers truly meant.
OK BEAR and that is what this is for so if you have no opion then stop being a grammer girlyman.
Well how about uor right to "KEEP AND ARM BEARS" ? 8)

As I have said in previous threads, this is a fundmantal right, and neccessary to maintain a "free State". Governments treat armed populations different than unarmed ones, and that alone is the reason it is neccessary to keeping us free people. Don't believe me? Look at what is happeneing to most of the western European nations, over the last decades they have become more and more socialist and their citizens have less and less rights. My favorite example to point to, France. Chirac signed a law banning the wearing religious symbols in public places (I think that maens universities and government buildings and the like). What's the justification for that? Was someone stabbed with an oversize cross someone was wearing as a necklace? History is the story of a government that grew too powerful and suppressed its people so much and so long that they took up arms and overthrew it. Having access to those arms is the key to keeping an overly powerful government in check.
my friend LyAnna's favorite quote is, "I think life would be alot more exciting if the possibility of being eaten by a bear was a true, daily threat."Galen1066 wrote:

I think they ment bear arms by weapons. Not specifically guns. i think they mean like knifes and stuf like that. I dont think they really ment keep a gun at ur doorstep and everytime someone rings the doorbell u answer it holding a DAO. u wouldnt look to friendly now would u. lol. I think they should change that to like tranquilizer arms or something. Lol
You have got to be young or dumb. Think about it you go to your door and have your trusty stun-gun and open the door to a sawed off shotgun?

I do think we should be able to bear Shotguns, handguns and the like, but the NRA is a little extreme. There aren't any citizens in the U.S. that need an M16 laying around the house. Shootings are already bad enough in the U.S. now, handing everyone an automatic would just make it worse.KillerTroop 11th Cav Whit wrote:

I'm pretty sure our founding fathers wanted an AK47 assault rifle in every home, yeah, that was their idea. Also, I just read... literally... off of an NRA pamphlet (and they are the ones who are all about guns aren't they?) that if you have a gun in your home you are 12 times more likely to shoot yourself or a family member than an intruder.
I SWEAR TO GOD I got that right off an NRA mailing (I get their crap all the time even though I don't own a gun, I go climbing a lot and apparently order adventure gear from a place that gave them my address)... perhaps this is like warning labels on cigarettes, ha.
Fox, we don't need to start a debate you and I looped around for an infinite amount of time already... but I will say that not ALL European nations are losing rights, and many of the more socialist ones are also the most democratic (ie sweden, where they have most rights we do and even some we do not, yet have universal health care, etc etc)
There are examples for each end of the argument, but some of those scandanvian countries enjoy TRULY SOCIALIST DEMOCRACY, and I'm sorry but in many ways they are a LOT better off than us (healthcare and education to name just a few, but those aren't important right?)

It was all a big cock-up. What those old yankee guys meant was that you ahd the right to keep BEAR arms, beacause they were like, cool, and muscly... and had awesome bear claws on the end...
Nevertheless, that law is outdated. No-one in their right mind is going to wage war, (legitimate war, not terrorism,) against the US. You can't even fight terrorism with guns; what are you going to do? Kill them? Their already fucking dead before you realise what's happening!!
Also, you get those redneck bastards who barricade themselves behind some bunker in their house with an SMG and a pocketful of grenades saying "you can't take mah gun!" while shooting everyone they know, including themselves, (accidentaly of course.)
Funny internet thing, the "God and Devil show" with Charlton Heston. Near the end he accidently shoots himself.
"I shot myself... with a gun!... But the irony is lost on me!"

Actually I believe "The Right to Bear Arms" simply means that if your arms are covered in large amounts of "grizzly" hair than you are legally allowed to keep them unshaved
So Robin Williams is good then?

does that sweater come in a v-neck?
the right to bear arms was put into the constitution for the sole pourpose of alowing the poeple to have a means to stand up aginst a corrupt government so yeah have an ak47, shotgun a frigin tank anything to fight aginst a corrupt government. no we live in a time where people are retarted and blow themselfs away more often than not so we are shredding the constitution in the name of "keeping people safe" i dont own a gun myself and ive never been hunting but i feel the citizens that voted on laws like the brady bill are short sited and fearfull.god help us if our government should ever turn on its own. it has happend to many other governments in the past all thought they where doing what was best for the people....look at hitler he thought he was doing what was right too.
hahaha. At least this thread lead to that post.Tyferra wrote:

I believe that the law was intended to give citizens a reprive from the Jehovah’s Witnesses and door-to-door sales people. LOL. j/k (no offense intended towards either of the above mentioned groups)
i think americas gun laws are a joke....sure iv got a few guns but here in aus not just anyone can have a gun liscence,
if you have any kind of vilence noted on your criminal record you will not be allowed to get/keep a gun liscence and those who have them have to show that they are a hunter or a member of a club to keep it.
plus you are not allowed to own any semi auto rifles or pump action shoties.
shootings in canberra are almost non existant (maybe one every few yrs).
although i guess if i grew up in america the gun laws they have would be what im used to so it wouldnt be a prob, but looking from the outside in and looking at the amount of gun related murders per capita compared to here i think its apauling.

Actually If you read the Whole thing ( I think ) it does state. Each man must procure and keep a Military serviceable weapon. But its been Years since I read it. Also read the Federalist papers. Its Exhausting but worth it. If you can get a copy of George Washington's Officers hand book Just Guessing at title My sis has it. It gives you an insight into these men The things that Troubled them Etc. Right up your ally I suspect.dshak wrote:
