Do You here a lot of trash talk online.
Do you ever wonder what the people would be like face to face?
Dose that fact they Remain hidden make MEN out of MICE.

Here is a Story.
Its Very difficult to get Zoning Variances in NYC and one time I had to Get some paper work through the Police Dept. The Sgt. was very curt and Borderline abusive on the phone. Not my usual experience with Cops. I had just been through a divorce and thought " well it could be me. Maybe I am Hyper aware or some thing" . After several phone calls I went to the records Dept in XXXXXXX. As I walked in the door I saw this Guy who was the picture of Impotence. I walked up and introduced myself. I was Very close to him and he was Extremely helpful. We are good Friends now.

for what its worth

Nicer seems Cooler, did you ever meet a guy who had a lot of babes who was a prick ?

I think so, yup.  Usually its people who have been picked on their entire life, so they end up taking their agression out on people online.

I value face to face talk (or over the phone), largely from my work experiences dealing with my clients from all over the world. Messaging, emails and chats can never fully convey true emotions. Most times, the intent never comes out right on the Internet. We could be joking with something and it comes out all wrong. A simple "hahaha" on a chat might come out as being sarcastic.

Does it make one Bolder? yeah, to a certain extent because it is anonymous and we hide behind a callsign.

Very astute, I am sure many a tiff began this way.

for Example Say this sentence and put the accent over a different word each time.

I thought you would drive to Chicago.

One-hundred-percent-absolutely-postively: yes.

This is, however, a two edge sword. While on the net people tend to take the anonimity as an excuse to act out and 'flame on' with others. "They'll never really know me." This can make out some people on the net real asses.

The flip side to this is the internet gives people (who would otherwise be stuck in thier shells) a place to let out their frustrations, fears, doubts, and insecurities and even seek help from others in the same vien without needing to comprimise their identity.

As for some of the other comments, pretty much everyone has been dead on. When you deal with a person face-to-face you hace body language, guteral sounds, expressions, vocal intonation, and TONS of other intrapersonal communication to rely on.

On the phone you loose a lot of it, but people can still get on quite acceptably with intonation of the voice.

When all you've got is text...it leaves a lot to be desired.

Only when those on the other end of the table don't posess an apt level of literacy (do not compare my standards to yours) is there something left desired in online communication.

I just find it funny that most of the people who swear and abuse other peopple online are mostly something like twelve.
Except me, I'm just an asshole.
Nah, I'm kidding, I'm not an asshole to people. I just swear a lot. It's New Zealand culture. Along with binge drinking.

that and the pair of shoes strung on every second power line. i'm only an asshole to my friends because most of my friends are foul-mouthed pisshead stoners, and will be an asshole right back, cos they know i'm just playing. other than that i'm quite a respectable guy- with some people here it pays to be respectful, so they don't kill you.

the only time i ever took andvantage of anonymity was when my friend grew an unhealthy habit of picking up girls from the net. so i went and made a new MSN address, gave myself a name like sarah or katie or something and began to talk to him. he soon aranged to meet this wonderful sounding girl, and i went to the place. got me two broken ribs but shit was it worth it hahaha

All the time, they are called frat-boys.  I take it by "babes" you mean physically attractive girls that are total sluts, the kind that cause you to tell stories in stuck elevators about how you got crabs for the Nth time.

Im exactly the same on the net as I am in RL, which means im a sheep on the net and a total dick in RL...or so I am told anyway.

Horse,

I like your question at the end.... did you ever meet a guy who had a lot of babes who was a prick? haha. answer to this question, overwhelmingly... yes.

I actually gave up my secret identity in an earlier post when I mentioned where I coach, anyone could look at that Universities web site and figure out who I am based on my name on here, so I guess if I'm a prick I have no excuse at all!

I think it makes some people ruder, but only the people that are afraid to be rude in real life, because they can easily take out their anger with their anonamous online identity.

I got to challenge this. The guys I always saw starting fights and tormenting people were always Always unescorted and more than likely in a Group of other Guys for protection.

Like a Gang or a click. It was always the case. Maybe Because I grew up in a College town ? a Socio-Economic thing?

I am stumped.
