[Ace Combat] Ace Combat games, anyone played?

I feel like getting one of these, but which one is the best? Zero or Five? I'm getting it on PS2. IGN seems to rate Five as better, but Zero is newer.

Anyway, probably wrong place to ask, but if you have played, please tell.

Ive got Ace Combat 04, its pretty good. I didnt follow the story too easily, but thats probably because I didnt play any of the previous ones. The story was confusing...I just wanted to fly and blow shit up.....so I skipped the story line lol.

For story I liked 5 alot better. So in my opinion...get that one. But certain missions are really frusterating in 5, where-as in Zero, you can pretty much beat the game without to much frusteration, hard enough to still be fun, but you don't want to snap the disc in half over it.

i have ace combat 04.. was some skilled low flying required in it and some good dog fighting with numerous planes, Anti aircraft guns and other ground items to destroy. you had to buy your planes and rockets, could also sell back many secrets you can find on enet bout getting the special planes on every level( the best dog fight in every level 1 on 1hard opponent faster plane than yours).. havent played any other my ps2 ans xbox are dust collectors now.

i have only played shattered skies (i think that's 04?) but it was amazing.

i haven't got round to playing any others. in fact i've only ever seen shattered skies and squadron leader.

but it was a great game, i'd say i got alot of flight experience off of it, and a bit of aircraft knowledge.

Ace combat 4 by far had the best weapons system and weapons choice ACE 5 has better storyline though. Ace combat 0 is just a prequel to 5.... but 5 has nothing to do w/ 4 =/ just the same world though.

I care more about playability, longevity and replayablility than storyline. Need something to fill the gap until the Ps3 comes out in march (and I cant always play 2142).

Some of you seem to be saying 4 is better than 5 or 0, anyone agree?

I agree storyline in number 5 was better but i didn't like the weapon set up in the 5th one.

5 is Belkan War or Squadron leader, depending on where you live
4 is shattered skies.

5 didn't have head to head But great storyline.

I heard zero was rehashed.

I now spend my time playing part 5 to fly at 5 ft off the ground/water and weave my way through the downtown freeways and under bridges to see the replays at the end. Too cool looking!

Ive only played AND beat the first two, back on PS1, and at that time they were the best flight combat games around.

Get 5 because it's is just fun, I mean it a little Crazy at times and the story is sometimes loads o' BS but it kicks ass... I've been playing Ace Combat since the first and out of all of them 04 was the best and if you want more feel like you kick alotta ass get 04 if you want a story worth anything with it get 5

In my opinion Ace Combat 4 and 5 are great except 4 doesn't have a good story line as 5. Also in 5 u dont get that weapon selection u get in Acecombat 4.
