Hey! I don't have a job and am thinking of taking a road trip to Zion and Bryce next week if I don't have to fly to SF for this job interview. Any recommendations on what to see/do? Thinking around 3 days total for both parks (not including driving time to/from Utah)

From I-15, use Utah hwy 9 to Springdale. not sure when they start the buses ( you catch them in Springdale if running - it's a tourist town, pricey but plenty of rooms, things to do) spend 2 of 3 days in zion. the bus hits most of the photogenic stops, and trailheads. hike the emerald pools trail across from the lodge. Angels landing is a lottery, put in for it (they do reserve a % for next day) that is an all day hike, worth it

Day 3 get back on 9, turn on 89 until #12. dont miss red canyon, start of #12. #12 will take you to 63 (its the only way in Bryce) it will hit all the turnouts. Lodge loop rd off 63 has sunrise & sunset point overlooks, hit tower bridge for a 1/4 mile hike if you have time

I'm jealous, it's been a couple years since i've been. we are going to kanab in may

Haven't even looked but highly unlikely there are campsites available on such short notice. Probably a mixture of car camping and a hotel or two.

True, looking at the site there are a handful of spots open. I went Oct 2022. 2 days in Zion staying in Watchman Campground, 1 in Bryce staying in Kodachrome Basin State Park. Watchman didn't have a shower though there is a place 5min drive away.

If you see a park ranger remember to punch them in the face for stealing your taxes.
It would be self-defence because they started the violence.

I've never had a bad interaction with rangers.

One time when I was backpacking in Yosemite we left a cooler out overnight (last day at camp after returning from the bush, many celebratory beers and Jagermeister) instead of putting it in the bear locker. There was a nice note from a ranger about the requirement to lock up food, but no fine.

When i did an overnight at a local trail/mountain, I ended up drinking whiskey with the ranger.

A little different, but when I was backpacking up in SEKI a few years ago someone had to get airlifted out  We chatted up the two SAR guys that landed their helicopter on the shore of the lake we were camping by.

All great interactions. Park rangers get paid shit, love their jobs, and are a great resource. I TTFTS anytime I see them.

Park Rangers are clearly tax-thiefs and should be treated as such.
