really don't know jack about digital watches. i was always of the view that phones (and now iWatches) had totally replaced them.

These days, a watch is more part of a fashion ensemble than a practical device. We can't really make any kind of real suggestion if we don't know what what you're looking for. Are you going for the pudgy-faced, blogger in a prohibition-era federal agent getup look, or the whole make-believe navigator/navy seal deal?
If you want to tell the time quickly, just look at your smartphone. Maybe you can get an app that tells you how long it's been since you last boasted about torturing animals, so you don't fall behind on your schedule.

I will tell you why I need the watch a month from now. I just need a watch with a digital display because I can't use my phone.
Does it really matter? How much variation in digital watches can there really be? I mean, aesthetics, sure, but I doubt there is a substantive difference between brands.
Just get a timex ironman or something. Over-fancy digital watches look funky.
Can't you read an analog watch what's wrong with you?
