I feel like going to the Guinness brewery is the answer to all of these

Voodoo is overrated. I like the beer suggestion though. Planning on going to Deschutes.pirana6 wrote:

There's like a million more than that. Breakside, Hopworks, Culmination, Rogue,
yeah i know. I like the food at Deschutes. I've been to the Rogue pub house there before - not bad. I'll probably go to a few more. What are your favorites and why?
Never been to any of them, I avoid portland like the plague, ergo I can't attest to their on-taps nor their food. Their shipped beers are good though. Voodoo is fine to walk in and get one but I wouldn't buy a dozen and each to be better than the last.
Why do you avoid portland? Too much smug from the prius'? I'm a big fan of their street food scene, and they have a great thai and viet food scene there too, which I love. I have a bro up there so I try to go at least once a year. I feel like I could live there, albeit only for a few years
I think we've had this convo before.
What they offer isn't that much different than Seattle except with 1,000x the smugness. The 'I'm-a-hipster-so-I-have-to-hate-everything' MO that everyone down there has is too annoying to deal with to bother visiting there. I'm sure it's just as bad in seattle but I know enough people/places around here that I can avoid it. In probably every city, including RipCity, it's very obvious to us tourists so I just don't go.
We have a similar street food scene (depending on who you ask), a billion micro-breweries, and an enormous asian population (with their accompanying food), so the reasons people go who are from outside the PNW don't appeal to me.
Go in with an open mind and you'll be fine.

I've been enough times where I more or less know what/who to avoid, but I get it. I'm down for the hip type places for the most part, but without the smugness. None of that $4 hand-milled toast with onsite apiary honey nonsense for me, but I can fuck around with some new types of food and presentations.
The honey tastes better when their hood exhaust fan is discharging into their rooftop hives. Greasy honey, yum.
