i know musk isn't related to them but it's like the whole 'new atheist' movement. dawkins really tried to brand its 'adherents' (um?) as 'Brights', lmao. like something out of a pulpy early 1900s sci-fi novel. the Brights versus the race of Gullibles!!!!
imagine identifying yourself with an in-group based on the ... absence of belief in something. and gathering in a church? to listen to presentations? just go to university already and get a fucking education. that is some loser-ass behaviour. says terrible things about the present state of civic society and its denuded institutions of association.
it's all generally part of the cultural wave that has legitimised ingrown, socially maladapted nerd culture. now those same dudes are being cannibalised by the incel movement because they're all sexless, childless bachelors in their 30s and 40s. it's like, yeah, for the entirety of your adult life you've been coddled in a cultural bubble with your marvel comics and plastic collectible figurines, incurious about the adult world outside. you have cultivated an obnoxious, entitled arrogance from receiving too many reddit updoots. no shit women aren't interested in you and the real world makes you angry and confused.
