Yeah that is why we could fix it up. Change the banners and get some content to get it going. The battlefield 3 mods would make an official announcement to their community and link us in their sidebar. It will get at least a thousand subs in one day.

I have an idea to get more members if that is what everyone wants. Bf3 has a huge and active sub on reddit. The battlefield 2 not so much

The person who made the sub isn't around anymore and I could file a petition to get control of the sub.
I can set it up nicely, make some of you mods, and link to bf2s in the sidebar. It will get us a few members even if they are redditers. They will be hardcore BF2 players and probably older.
If you guys are interested I could get started today by getting the petition going. After that I will need help. Custom banners, and adding content are the two big ones.
Thoughts?
redesigning a sub-reddit's layout is not going to revive bf2. bf2 subreddit has 70 readers because bf2 is a dead game, not because it lacks an eye-catching banner.Macbeth wrote:

if you want to revive the forum, i would politely suggest that the remaining 'community' for a dead pc game is not where you're going to find new life.
I didn't say just add a new banner. Provide some content to get it going and the sub will grow. People still play the game and would be interested. We also do BF3 stats and might get BF4 stats and might get linked straight to the site on the other subs if we make nice enough with the other mods.

get bf3s.com to redirect people to the forums.
we need bf2s.com to redirect people to trackR.
it was a disaster because nobody left here.

i honestly think the idea of the gaming forum/clan community is a dying breed. less games lead to that sort of congregation now. bf2 had it because it was still an early-style pc shooter based around hobbyist clans and the obvious new stat culture. now most games have their own social platforms/stats built into them. or everyone uses subreddits or whatever.
it was overly complex and messy. just had that feeling of trying to do too much. i've never sticked to any other forums than this one for so long and one of the biggest reasons always was how simple, compact and easy on the eye this one is.AussieReaper wrote:

There are huge active gaming forum communities. The problem is that they're shit now. The EA forums were decent for BF3 but they integrated it into battlelog and we all know how shit that place is. 4chan and Reddit aren't the best video game forum communities either.Uzique The Lesser wrote:

Why do we care about getting a load of new members?

3/4's of those names very liberally stretch the semantic limits of the word 'active' tbh.
let's see your list.
As expected, yours is longer Taiwan...
I'm somewhat active.
