I was never Star Treks biggest fan, show or movies, but sure why not.
2 things:
first) didn't they do away with jet engines at this point? why contrails? Wingtip vortices? (thanks wikipedia)
second) are they saving the borg for the 3rd installment? seems like that would be the best foe.

Never liked Star Trek. Am looking forward to this movie though. They were smart to make the first one in the reboot series not require a foreknowledge of the star trek universe. Selling the movie on its own merit as opposed to selling the previous movies on the tv show's. Good stuff.

Not really. Space ship fights an egomaniac bad guy with a pre-existing grudge. It's nice to know a bit more about him, but unnecessary.
