Just wanted to share some thoughts about the beta.

The start up is faster than in BF2, it takes no time to get to the login site.
Only one map to play and it is in titan mode.
The loading part is the same as in BF2, slow the first time you play the game and thereafter its the same.
The page showing while the game loads contains the regular information, which include a brief description of the titan mode game-play and one Tip/Hint about features in BF2142, the tip varies of course from each time you are at the loading page. otherwise its a bit boring to look at, the same goes about the loading music.
To be honest i was soooo lost when i finally joined a server last night. the first person i saw i shot....he was on my team (of course). I then realized that the teams were color coded by which fraction(Pan Asian Coalition.          / European Union) they belong to, so sometimes your enemy shows as RED (name, chat etc.) and sometimes they are blue..... a bit disturbing if you ask me, but i got use to it.
No one, and i mean no one, offered to help you with information about what to do, where to go etc. etc. so i pretty much had to figure the whole thing out by myself.
I became Squad leader and tried to use the command rose. But when i used it, i got no confirmation about if i had hited the correct order or if i gave an order in the first place. I mean there were no text or sound like we know from BF2 when you ex. ask for a Vech. drop.
The vechs. are fun to use, a lot of diff. positions in each vech. and turbo on some of them (especially the small car (UAZ-8 and MK-15 Bandit-) got a cool turbo). the BTR-4 Romanov- and AMV-2 Groundhog has a cool feature that allow the "co-pilots" (?) to launch up in the air in small pods, and to some extend, navigate it to where you want to land safely.

I just cant figure out how to drive the tank (Type 32 Nekomata- and A-8 Tiger-) properly, i float around and bumb in to things and teammates. The same goes about the T-39 Bogatyr- or the L5 Riesig-  its alot easier to steer than the tank but you got no information about how the turret is located/turned vs which direction your "legs" is pointing. I got so stuck some times that i had to change views to see which way my legs pointed.

I chose, of course, the recon kit. I got like 4 promotions/unlocks right away and used them to get the T-33 OPTICAL CAMOUFLAGE. Let me say to start with you are not  invisible, i followed one guy using the camo around for a while, and it was not difficult to spot him when you know he is there. But if you think you are alone you get very scared when a guy pops up in front of you with his knife. I found it very useful  combined with the demo-pack against tanks.

The commander role i have only tried once. A thing that annoyed me, was when i zoomed in on the map, the icons on the map, with color and all, stayed on the map although they were semi transparent, But they were huge when you zoomed in. The ground would be all red or blue if it was near a missile station (cant remember what they are called lol).
After a deployment of the UAV, the bar that indicate when its ready for another deployment shows that it is ready long before you can deploy it again, thats a bit stupid if you ask me.
The orbital strike (arty in BF2) only paralyze Vechs in the impact zone, i don't believe it can kill enemy soldiers.

Okay that will be it for now. This is just thoughts about the game, i know that it is a beta and that it is not 100% done. Correct me if any of the info is wrong or anything else for that matter.
Just ask if you want to know anything about the beta.

Can you describe the tags a bit better?  I'm confused as to what you're describing when you say enemies show up with different color tags.  Thanks.

oo I dont like that...

edit:  For crouch do you still have to hold it down?  I would like to just press the crouch button and stay crouch until I press it again just like prone.

As far as I can tell, you still have to hold the crouch button down.

I'm going to be honest guys...after playing the beta last night, it is VERY overwhelming if you don't know what you are doing. There are lots of vehicles and stationary objects in various bases that either have multiple mods of fire or three burst of fires.

I still can't figure out how to take out the shields on the Titan. Guess I have to read up more about this game.

The graphics are very solid and I was impressed with the overall look of the game. The only problem is getting to understand how everything works, the teammates issue (colors, etc...) and the vehicles.

I hate holding down crouch.

"The same goes about the titan, its alot easier to steer than the tank but you got no information about how the turret is located/turned vs which direction your "legs" is pointing. I got so stuck some times that i had to change views to see which way my legs pointed."

WRONG.  The "Titan" is the GIGANTIC mothership/mobile spawnpoint that the commander is in control of.  He can move it all over the map (albeit VERY slowly).  The whole point of the TITAN MODE gives purpose to capture the flag.  In this mode, the flags are actually missile silos.  When your team has captured a silo, the commander is allowed access to launch a missile from the silo to the enemy Titan.  This reduces the shields on the enemy Titan.  Once the shields are depleted - I do NOT know how many missiles it takes nor how tolaunch the missiles b/c I haven't commanded yet - members of your team can launch themselves onto the enemy Titan and start fighting to reach the core.  Once there, the core reactor needs to be destroyed for your team to win.  Takes a few "C4" charges to do it.  How do you launch yourself onto the Titan you ask?  First you need an APC.  Then that APC needs to be positioned pretty close to the enemy Titan, whereever it happens to be on the map.  Third, you must be in the 3rd through 8th positions within the APC (yeah it can carry a lot.  The first 2 positions are driver and top gunner).  When in one of those 6 positions, simply RIGHT-CLICK the mouse and the APC will launch you - in a protective "pod" - up into the air.  Now, you have to control it from her on to land it where you want it.  Its similar to controlling the parachute from a high height.  Once you land on the Titan, get to work destroying it.  Its pretty badass I must say.

Another improvement I like are those "pods".  Whenever you eject from an air vehicle, you are launched from the craft in a pod and down to earth.  The first time I did it I thought I ws dead b/c it crashed so violently.  The visual looks like you got drilled by arty.  BUT, I was still alive and the pieces of the pod were all around my feet.  COOL!  No more gay-ass jamming on the 9 button!  (I think they changed the parachute button to Spacebar anyway).

Any more questions?  Just post em.  I bookmarked this thread so I'll come back from time to time to answer any questions you guys have.

Yeah its a little rough still, but this game is gonna be badass.  NOt a huge leap forward, but I definitely like it a ton and it feels like the future!  Can't wait for the final.

Of course i meant the T-39 Bogatyr- or the L5 Riesig- sorry about that. i will edit it in my post.

I posted this in another thread so I'll repost it here. . .

Well I've been playing it (the Tuning-DEMO BETA) for a couple weeks now - and this is my take on it:

1.) Same bugs as BF2 (red-blue-tag bug, missles going through stuff, map-glitches, etc.).

2.) Same exploitable game play + some new ones.
a.) One new exploit is lay-able spawn points by squad leaders.
b.) ... and pod-blasting across the map in 2 seconds (everybody is doing it).

3.) Sniping is basically useless (has been combined with spec-ops and called: RECON, the available machine gun unlock - SUCKS). The cross-hair is always FLOAT-ing up and down (new annoying game-mechanics/logic); it is hard to hit a moving target from a long distance when both your crosshairs are moving and the target is moving.

4.) In Titan mode you can move it (the Titan); on some servers this causes unbearable game-play, LAG, and allows map-glitch-ers to glitch into the Titan core.

5.) Over all coordinated team-play can eliminate a Tank, Mech-walker, APC  in 1 second... an EMP (tank can't move anymore) combined with multiple rockets, ground static-av, Titan static-av - MEANS forget about raping with vehicles. . . but at the same time if one side is able to monopolize the vehicles - this equals TOTAL infantry rapage. Same ol, same ol... un-thought-out game-play issues when clans join and monopolize the vehicles - when other players are just joining a server for some fair-play FUN... this stupid issue has never been addressed and probably never will.

6.) The infantry weapons are nearly useless against a monopolizing vehicle hording raping clan members.

7.) Support and Medic-Assault (Assault and Medic are combined into 1 class) are the 2 best classes with weapons/unlocks - that kill fast (infantry that is).

8.) The Titan sometimes is destroyed very fast (and this is on a 32 player server, 64 might even be faster); and you basically get zero points for doing so.

9.) The point system logic is the same as BF2, except that everything is cut in half, 1 point for a Kill (not 2); 0.5 points for a Kill assist - which results in a ZERO point unless you get 2 kill assists or until another half point is accumulated.

10.) The speedy jeep-type vehicles blow up to easily upon collisions with objects; and it doesn’t seem entirely rational either; the ground (impact craters from explosions in the 3-D map mesh) can even cause it to explode from bumping about.

11.) You can get the DEMO-PAK (like C-4) unlock . . . and you still have to basically place it, which can cause it (often even) to fall on the ground and not stay on a tank. If you get to close to a tank even when at an apparent total stop in slight wobble in the 3-D mesh (of the tank) can kill you. . . this happens with all vehicles actually and it happens a lot actually.

12.) Some servers seem to crash almost every time at the end of a round.

13.) For players who like twitchy, super-fast, more arcade-style play - this is IT! The pod-hopping across the map makes for super-fast player movement. If you like to do a minimal amount strategy FORGET about it: it doesn’t exist. If you like sniping FORGET about it.

14.) Most people don’t like the commander-role anymore; the play is to fast air-strikes and supply crates hardly get used.

15.) You can only get a decent No. of Kills with the Talon, if your TEAM owns (monopolizes) the vehicles. . . else one EMP, two EMP. . . you fall out the sky and everybody fires missiles at you.

16.) FORGOT this. . . STUPID punish system - still there; also the same retarded game-logic when figuring team-damage, etc, still there . . . expect a few annoying -(minus) points that get assigned to you seemingly undeserved (also while the +plus points are BF2 cut in half - I think the -minus points are not cut in half).

It is definitely BF2 at the core; of course (DUH, same game engine); all the same issues/bugs as before - plus a few new ones! Overall as negative, as it might seem that I am being about it, I actually like this MOD way better than Special Forces (SF), Armored Fury (AF) or Euro Forces (EF). I am only pointing out the issues that always seem to be there with a BF2 title. . . I will play this (buy this) even if they don’t resolve all the issues. The number of new unlocks, new maps, vehicles, effects, things to do, style of play, etc, is FUN and refreshing - not humdrum like SF, AF and EF. Until Quake Wars comes out I’ll have some FUN with this MOD. . .  but when it (Quake Wars) comes out I have a feeling that it’s bye-bye to BF2 in all its glitchey-buggey incarnations.

If you mean the primary sshield of the titan, the missiles from the missile stations will take them out, your team just have to have them in control or else they will fire at your titan. you can see a cirkel filling out a each missile station when it has been capped, when it is full it will fire a missile against the titan of opposit color of the team that control it.

The Titan and the APC type transport vehicles have launch-able PODS. On the Titan - its a curved door you press "E" next too and then FIRE (launch) yourself to a BASE (look first in the direction you want to launch yourself). You can basically move from one BASE to another in this manner. After you get off the Titan a transport vehicle will spawn. . . after that base is capped ... then "E" to enter that vehicle and F4 to get into launch-able position and then FIRE (launch) yourself to another BASE. . . another transport will be there (at the next BASE) or will spawn there. . . you steer with "W, S, A, D" like you do when you walk.
